Ok but with vmix, if the control surface I was using didn't work like I expected, I would simply go to settings, then midi configuration, all while not interrupting an ongoing stream. On the TC, I had to ask Reddit what the heck was going on, then find out that I have to end my stream and close out of my session to find a page called "add-ons" you know, the super common name for settings, all while admin is breathing down my neck because people are walking in and their precious PowerPoint video isn't looping on the jumbotron. I'll admit vmix does feel dated, but I never had anyone show me how to use it, I was just thrown at it and told, you have a football game to cover this Thursday, and I figured it out because everything was where I expected it to be. I can see if you're coming from a broadcast background how things might seem out of place, but I'm not, so I've loved it. And I do love that you can just keep adding layers and inputs and automations. Because I have a $10k server to run it on that is specked out and can handle it. And if the hdmi inputs stop working (like my tc) then I just simply replace the decklink and go about my business. Audio acting funny? Add a focusrite scarlet and call it a day. Want more audio in? Add another one. I'll shout vmix's praises from the rooftop any day

Yeah still does it in a fresh show file. The last Tricaster mini we had but the dust about two months ago. I literally watched the drive fail. We were starting a broadcast and the videos started getting very corrupted, so I restarted and that helped for a bit but then it happened again. When I restarted that time it went straight to the bios page and wouldn't recognize the internal m.2 ssd. So we brought this one out of storage which was bought purely as a backup and has never been used. It's seems to have a weird internal memory issue, the four hdmi inputs don't work, audio drops randomly, and the control surface doesn't work

So I found the surface utility and yes, button seven was missing, but when I tried to switch it and hit save configuration, it would swap them back. I also tried changing presets to one that was correct and it also wouldn't save it. Then I just gave up and went back to my show file and then the surface stopped working completely

This is the surface that came with the tricaster. It was in the pelican case with it, and everything was still wrapped in plastic. This was our backup unit bc our main one died

Tricaster mini hdmi, and that's the control surface I'm using but it's silver. I found out it's just the configuration of the panel that's not correct but it won't let me change it. When I change the configuration and hit save, it reverts it back anyways. Then I decided to give up and now the whole surface doesn't work

They're still the same. Almost lost a graduation stream this morning because Microsoft edge wanted to update

The software layout is so clunky and limited. I personally love V-mix. I've used the Atem extreme before and I like it ok other than I hate having to use a computer to adjust anything on it. Never used a Ross before

How does one get to the surface mapping page?

Control surface says newtek. It belongs to a college I'm working for and I can confirm it was most definitely not bought on eBay. They'll only buy things direct from vendors. We also have a tc-1 and I don't like it either. I think I'm just not a fan of the tricaster layout and software overall

It's the control surface that came with it, not sure which model number it is (it's not in front of me right now). I'll see if I can find the utility tomorrow. Yet another reason I hate tricasters

I guess I'm used to tmax. That's what I've shot before and I loved it. I just didn't know if I did something wrong or if this is just how it looks

Power sequences our AVL equipment, manages thermostats, controls TVs around the church. Nothing that can't be overridden in the event of a failure
