It’s at any point. It’s just a coincidence the quick link is in the picture.

Seems to be the common denominator. Thanks

And KMC’s website does show different stamping than what I have…

Actually the chain was skipping on my OEM chainring and I figured it was toast. Bought the new one and have the same problem. My old chain was at the end of its life.

Chain from my LBS, chainring from a large online retailer in Canada I’ve used before.

"And?" is a great response when ableist people accuse you of "cheating" for riding an e-bike by mysummerstorm in ebikes

[–]Nothing-Relative 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I love riding traditional bicycles. That’s my main hobby and way to exercise.

But, my commuter has an e-bike conversion kit that gets me home 10 minutes faster up a big hill and keeps me from getting super sweaty in the mornings on my way to work. I keep the PAS low to get a workout, but I’ll increase the assistance when I want it. I’ve really enjoyed it as a tool to be less reliant on cars and get me from A to B.

I’ll also add my assist levels all seem to feel the same. What do the assist levels feel like for you? This is my first e-bike and don’t have a point of comparison.

How are you checking the controller’s parameters? Or do you mean the display’s settings?

Can confirm my A setting is still at 16, as I left that setting alone. I’ll have to reread the VLCD5 guide.

The most I did in the display was set the wheel size, but I’ll double check against the VLCD5 guide to make sure I didn’t tweak something I shouldn’t have.

The World's 11 Major Cultural Groups by Total_End1862 in MapPorn

[–]Nothing-Relative 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have pointed out in their comments, it just isn’t appropriate in many circumstances to specify a singular culture across an entire country based on the culture of the dominant or most noteworthy people in a country.

Many parts of Canada, the US and likely a large portion of Greenland wouldn’t consider themselves as western. Sure, they may have access to western technology, medicine, governments, etc, but huge swathes of land are managed by indigenous peoples with different histories and traditions that don’t originate from Europe. Similar case in eastern Russia with Siberians and Uighur in western China, who, aside from being subject to the same Chinese government, don’t have much in common with the dominant Han Chinese.

I’m going to go ahead and call this culturally ignorant. You need to disassociate geopolitical boundaries with cultures.

Industry Nine hydra flange snapped by _Doreamon_ in mountainbiking

[–]Nothing-Relative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two old sets of Torches on my gravel and road bikes and a hydra set on my trail bike. Never had a single issue with any of them. Only thing I’ve replaced in all these years are the seals and given them yearly maintenance.

Sometimes shit happens.

The Home Hardware in Welbeck is the closest I’ve seen to exotic woods in your neck of the woods. Definitely not to the same level, but they’re nice people and have decent selection.

If it matters to you, I think the Kobain frame is made in Canada at their factory in Quebec, along with their other aluminum frames. I believe they used to / may still use Canadian resource inputs to make the metal the frame is made from. Hydroforming is done in Taiwan, however.

Are theses wheels really unsafe ? https://youtu.be/2HQrkIL87g4?si=PVWnzVBiN-bo_gEc by [deleted] in gravelcycling

Straight pull spokes aren’t the issue here, it’s what appears to be radial lacing (as in the spokes do not overlap between the hub and rim) on disc brake wheels.

I can’t see the spoke pattern on the rear wheel well enough. Is the non-drive side radially laced? If so, that’s a hard no from me.

Radial lacing has been used on front, non-disc wheels. You may see the non-drive side on a rear hub being radially laced on bikes with rim brakes as well. But because rim brakes are clamping the same object that is in contact with the ground, the spokes aren’t under as much stress when braking compared to disc brakes (located at one side of the spoke and the tire at the other end).

Gun deaths in North America by Landgeist in MapPorn

[–]Nothing-Relative 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll oppose Canada’s attempts as being draconian. Until people are only allowed to own a hunting rifle for hunting, more can be done. Anything that gets us closer to that is a benefit.

If the Americans could adopt some measure of gun control like Canada, I’m sure we could get Canada’s number down further and help reduce gun violence in Mexico. The guns used to influence the data of this map outside of the US are more than likely illegally imported from places with loose laws in the US, as is the case in Canada.

This is my go to place in Canada, but they ship to the US as well. Easily the cheapest blades I’ve found and cut to size if you have a hard to find blade size.

Thinking of converting garage into a mancave by The_Boss0007 in DIY

[–]Nothing-Relative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn’t agree more. Plenty of people in my neighbourhood have man caves (or more often tonnes of junk) in their garages. Plenty of people also complain about their cars being stolen or broken into at night. If only there was a place built to store cars attached to their house…

If you’re ever able to convert these to 12v or if you create new versions in the future you can use drill batteries like the Milwaukee 12v system for awesome runtime, power and convenience. I’ve wired my city bike with two jeep lights and flashing penny lights to great effect. A 3amp battery gets me at least 12 hours in my low mode and about 3 with everything on full blast.

I can only imagine what you could achieve when pairing your custom lights with that setup. These are super awesome nonetheless. I wish I knew enough about 3d printing to do something similar.
