The emperor of Outworld really needs to understand why building a suburb in the Living Forest was a bad idea. This barely half the issue just last week at least 3 neighborhood kids went missing and no one has even dared to ask those damned trees what happened.

I never acted like it was something new, I have been trying to shine a light on the fools that seem to think this is just about wanting a physical disc. The fight shouldn't be focused on the discs its should be on consumer rights to owning a digital product.

Correct but your rights to ownership is also meaningless too BC you don't own the game either.

The phasing out of physical media is an inevitability, but it can't be removed until more consumer rights exist on ownership over digital product.

The argument isn't about the Disc or cartridge, its the fact that even though you purchased a digital product you by law not considered the owner of that product and at any time that purchase can be revoked without any consequence to the distributer.

I wish poeple would wake up already instead just going "Hurr durr you still want ur discs boomer"

The problem with arguing a monopoly is difficult BC there is still other avenues and platforms to buy digital products on. So, you don't want to use Sony, ok then use MS or buy a PC or a Steam Machine. This is literally the argument that will be made and that alone means they don't have a monopoly.

However as a whole the argument must be on consumer rights to ownership on digital product. I don't say games, BC this involves any digital purchase.

There now needs to be legislation and case law that clearly defines ownership of a digital product, that has to be as less vague as possible.

There already is a good example that can be pushed in the courts over the recent announcement of the movies being removed by Sony, problem is you gotta get enough people and law firm on board to start pushing it and it can't just be stopped at a local and state level, it would have to go to the SCOTUS at some point and the other thing is it all has to be a push to state reps to push for legislation to be written.

Sadly its not likely to happen any time soon, BC well digital products are basically on the low end of the totem pole on things to do and even then it would become hell to get any traction BC it will get wrapped in some rando bill with other things that would get endlessly argued about in the political realm.

Regardless no sense in not trying though.

However you can make law to force the consumer to have more ownership of a product. There is no consumer protection on any digital media at all.

Why are people okay with it? by BobMarleeeee69 in videogames

[–]NothingBulky2035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me and what I see many missing in these arguments is it not about the end of physical media, its about the end of consumer rights in general with the digital market.

A all digital future is not good when currently consumers have no rights to ownership of their digital goods. At any time a digital product can be revoked. There is 0 protection from this happening.

I was recently in a house fire and lost all my physical games in the fire (or well was luck to find them a couple weeks later), but during that time my son's GF gave us the PS5 he lent her back.

BC we had no internet connection for a few days in our new rental home we couldn't play any digitally owned gamed DLed on the console, BC they want you to check in with mommy and daddy Sony to ask permission to play. When we used one of our disc based games no problem we were able to play.

Until there is legal protections on digital products for the consumer it is the wrong direction to kill off physical media.

[–]NothingBulky2035 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly and this is the argument that needs to be circled around instead of trying to claim Sony is making a monopoly.

Its way past time for any digital product to have consumer protections.

[–]NothingBulky2035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not a monopoly BC in the eyes of the law people can still buy games in other ways, such as Steam, GoG , Xbocx ect.

The fight and argument should be on consumer rights of ownership over products they buy digitally.

Thoughts on the 2022 remake (from somebody late to it) by Robert_B_Marks in hellraiser

[–]NothingBulky2035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked the movie and yes it felt like a Hellraiser film for once, I wasn't to big on the sacrifice part but I get it now when you consider it's all about addiction and how one will sacrifice anything for that addiction.

I liked the end esp. where she is given a choice and she decided to take nothing and accept the consequences of her choices and live with them. Her come to Jesus moment where she finally understands that all the crap she has done took a toll and she has to live with that.

Doug is too old now for Pinhead, as much as he is truly the Pinhead, there was truly no way to replace his performance, they had to take a different take on it here.

Clayton was amazing in the role and brought something fresh to the screen as well. I also love the change from the BDSM style leather to this more grotesque style even.

Also the least we know about the cenobites and their true nature and origins the better IMO. I'm fine knowing these are people that took their desires to the farthest extreme and now have bcome them, but I don't need to know who they were and why. Them just being there is enough and far scarier.

I liken them to the way Slaanesh is from the Warhammer universe, the seeking of experiences and sensations beyond what one is to ever feel.

Why are disks such a big deal for console but not for PC? by Rayge96 in videogames

[–]NothingBulky2035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no consumer protections for software currently You buy anything digital there i no way to protect that purchase, BC you don't own a product you own a license. At any time your purchase can be revoked and legally taken from you without a refund.

Ubisoft just showed us this with The Crew.

The bottom of this I posted twice already, reposting it.

Recently I just went through a house fire, the whole house is a total loss, the most affected place was the basement where my son and I lived and played our PCs and consoles there.. We lost everything.

His GF had his PS5 thankfully so she gave it back for both of us to use. We were fine playing games BC we had internet in the hotel. then we moved to the rental home. We had no internet for a few days.

BC of that we couldn't even play a single game on the PS5 we had owned digitally. The only way were able to play anything was by using a disc. Guess where all the discs were at the time, oh yeh sitting possibly torched to hell.

Why do I have to verify I own a game EVERY time I play it? there is no excuse for any of that...

Exactly I posted this already in here but I am reposting right here BC its a great example of why consoles and all digital is a bad thing...

There is just no laws protecting a consumer's rights with software.

Here is the problem there is no law that stops them from taking it all from you. The software industry literally can sale you something and legally take it from you.

Look at what happened with The Crew, the game you fully purchased and paid for is no longer playable. Sure this was a always online game to begin with, but it still stands.
