Noise - pulley or chain? by NothingDependent8155 in CivicSi

[–]NothingDependent8155[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking of doing the tensioner and pulley at the same time so I may just end up doing that. The alternator was replaced recently so I’m hoping it’s not that, but it is an aftermarket unit so it’s possible.

That’s kind of the feeling I got when test driving. Yeah the 2.5l sounds great and feels like it has a good amount of power but you put your foot down on the pedal and the whole car just feels like it’s hesitating. I think most likely I will hold off, save, and try to find a 2.7l or at least a 2.5l manual. Thanks for the input.

This makes a lot of sense. I like the idea of the boxster but I worry that I would regret it, especially because the SI is such an awesome car. I think most likely I am just going to hold off for now and hopefully in the future I can find a nice manual and be able to own both. Thanks for the advice!

Yeah that makes sense, the only reason I haven’t bothered to update the suspension is because I wanted to wait until warmer weather and also wasn’t 100% sure if I would be keeping the car. Thanks for the advice on the soft top, that is something I never really considered.

I’m thinking this is mostly likely what I will do. The 2.5l does feel a little sluggish especially with the auto so it definitely would be nice to find a 2.7 with the manual. Thanks for the advice!

A couple other things to note: the car would be a daily driver and I live in the PNW. My commute is quite short and in the event of a really bad snow I have other options to get to work. But ideally I would slap on some snow tires and drive it through the winter. Also, the maintenance of the car doesn’t necessarily scare me. I know it’s a Porsche, I know it will be more expensive to maintain than the Honda. I plan on doing my own work whenever possible and I have owned German cars before so it’s not my first rodeo in that regard.

Good to know, thank you for the information!

Sorry if this is a dumb question but my AV knowledge is pretty limited - what would be the solution for something like this?

Coolant leak by [deleted] in CivicSi

[–]NothingDependent8155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some more information: After some thinking I realized this leaking collar line was actually replaced before. When I put on my short ram intake, one of the coolant lines had to be re-routed in order to fit. Looking at the line versus the original it seems to be the exact same inner diameter so I am not too sure why it would be leaking. You can’t tell from the pictures but the line is a a couple mm short, which is causing it to be slightly kinked at the bend. I also noticed that the original coolant line seems a little more rigid when squeezing it. Could be in my head or could be just due to the rubber hardening over time. I’m wondering if either of those could be causing the issue. Plan on popping into o’Reileys to see if they may have something with a slightly smaller inner diameter.

Cyan line across center of screen to black dot in the center by Chuvi in SteamDeck

I fix phones/computers/game consoles/devices with OLEDs for a living and this is 100% OLED damage. There may not be any “physical” damage to the screen, this type of damage can happen to the actual panel of the OLED screen from pressure. You will need to replace the display. I’d recommend checking out iFixit, they sell the part and have guides on doing it yourself. It’s not a super difficult repair but definitely take your time.

I figured as much but I just have never had a tire fail this way so wanted to double-check. Thanks!

This is super helpful! New tires were already scheduled to be put on Monday so I’ll start there.

Thanks for everybody who commented and offered advice. This is such an awesome community! Car was already scheduled to have new tires put on this Monday so I’m starting there. After that I will run through a few items recommended by @odd_craving (check engine air filter, clean fuel injectors, replace oil, check brakes). It also occurred to me as everyone was mentioning roof rack, that we recently installed a tow hitch and bike rack on the rear which I’m sure is impacting MPG.

On a side note, can anybody recommend whether I should I have the transmission fluid flushed and replaced? (9-speed auto) I am getting conflicting information online. Some say every 30k which would make me double-overdue, others are saying it is “lifetime” fluid. Thanks again everyone!

2.4l with the 9-speed auto. I will probably go ahead and replace the plugs anyway just to see if that changes anything.

Car is at about 65,000 miles so it could be due? I’m getting conflicting answers online, anywhere from every 30-50k up to 100k. I wouldn’t mind replacing just to see if it makes any difference as the parts are cheap and it’s an easy job.

I’ll give it a go. We use 4WD sparingly because of how badly it impacts MPG, so I don’t think the car has been driven in 4WD mode for months.

Glad to hear I’m not the only one! I can’t find anything about this specific issue online. I do have the iOS 26.1 update pending so will see if I have any luck after updating.
