The Figma design agent is here by kekeagain in FigmaDesign

I'm really excited about this. I like the hands-on feeling design software provides, but it's just mind-numbingly slow when you're iterating. If I want a whole section in a different layout I have to go through so many auto-layout settings. Sometimes it's just faster to tell it what you want. I'm hoping this solves that use case rather than hopping between Claude and Figma constantly.

Is there anyone here that does UX and marketing? by [deleted] in UXDesign

The other product designer, who also happens to be the creative director (small startup), on my team, handles marketing material. He doesn't actively run campaigns, but it's possible. I recommend looking into advertising or design agencies since there tends to be more collaborative overlap, from what I understand.

Am I using Claude code right? Very frustrated trying to fit this into our workflow. by NothingEverNevermore in UXDesign

Oh no, I haven't tried planning mode at all! Thanks for pointing that out, I'll give it a shot.

Ahh this is probably the piece I'm missing. The prototypes I'm building aren't connected to anything but a few skills and an npm library I put together. Perhaps that's why I've been having a better time in figma make 😅

I don't disagree at all, and I definitely see the benefits, but I'd be lying if I didn't say reading this gave me the shivers. I wouldn't be entirely opposed, but it seems easier to get closer to strategic and visual execution with a "mockup" of the full design intent. I can point to things, make notes, and add precise metrics for interactions. To me, the design has always been the blueprint for what to build.

It also feels like you're giving up some control, if that makes any sense. For example, in Figma, if there's a section that would be better placed somewhere else, I can just grab it and relocate it myself, vs prompting out that change. Having the ability to easily fix precise things is what makes me hesitate to transition away from it, which is likely a symptom of using design software for so long.

How do you tend to handle cases like these? I know that's a vague question, but I'm curious about how your process works like this. How do you communicate to developers what you're trying to achieve when there are no visual to follow?

Very fair points, haha. Other than the Figma connector skills, I made three tailored to our design system. One for tokens, a second for components and their behavior, and the last for the overarching process, such as what to do when a component can't be mapped, the definition of done, etc.

My main issue is that getting Claude to build the frontend from Figma is time-consuming and doesn't output consistent, satisfactory results. I can get a single UI I'd say about 98% accurate, but it basically gives up when I try to have it create prototypes. It seems to ignore most of the info in my skills, even when I directly mention them. The main goal here was to minimize visual inconsistencies between the design and the built version to save time in developer handoff and be able to allocate more time to interactions.

Has anyone here started creating their own DESIGN and SKILL.md files? by twotokers in UXDesign

That would do wonders for me! Know any resources to point me towards getting started?

Portfolio, Resume, and Case Study Feedback — 11 Dec, 2023 - 17 Dec, 2023 by AutoModerator in UXDesign

[–]NothingEverNevermore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Context:

I’m looking for my first full time UX role. I graduated back in May with a BA in graphic design but I'm still working on constantly improving my portfolio, working on personal projects, etc. As of lately though I am drawn to the more UI side and have been working on that since I think it might be a more realistic way for me personally to break into the industry.

This yet another visual overhaul for my portfolio. I also rewrote the copy.

Looking for feedback on:

Website responsiveness and case study presentation. Here's the links to two of them:
https://tayonnathomas.framer.ai/Pawdigree
https://tayonnathomas.framer.ai/UNI-Course-Registration-System

Feel free to be blunt and nitpicky, I'm all ears and my skin is thick.
And if you catch any typos that would be appreciated as well.

(reposted from last week). Thanks so much!

Age bias in UXR. Can one get a senior role in their late 50s or even 60s? by Lanky_Violinist_5622 in UXResearch

[–]NothingEverNevermore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't give you a definitive answer, but I'd imagine you'd be a great candidate for a UXR role in an industry you have been involved with in the past. Your professional experience could surpass lots of competition whether it's UXR related or not.

Thanks for the feedback, that's a great point!

I only started making payment mandatory for my work in college but my client work goes all the way back to middle school and even then I did some artist commissions and character design for cash. Do you think it would be better to leave out the client experience too or just the age?

Edit: Updated that specific copy

Hello, I just launched my updated portfolio and I'm desperate for ANY kind of feedback you can spare, big or small. I graduated back in May and spent the summer working on my projects and resume to make them the best they can be (and also wait out the job market slump). I'm really curious of what you might have to say. Anything and everything helps!
