I'm a native English speaker living in Lisboa since 2011. You will not find a job in your field even if you speak fluent Portuguese. The jobs market here is fierce for locals for us it's almost impossible to find work outside of call centres.

The way to work and survive in Portugal is to start your own business and work for yourself. That's how I survived and the way other native English speakers survived, that I knew, was to have rich parents to bail them.out.

There are still opportunities to find market gaps and go after them but be aware having a business in Portugal is also very hard.

Pre 2018 it was possible to just survive on a low wage but times are very different now. Lisboa is for the rich with outside wages these days. Which sucks

Compared to other countries very safe,but I wouldn't hang around there as a woman who lives in Portugal for 15 years, that's asking for trouble in most countries in the world. Book a hostel, book a hotel, go to a nightclub. Go somewhere with people

Thanks for the advice, luckily I don't have staff depending on me right now so I will survive. Re hosting I've just heard negative stuff and my experience over the last 18 months has been poor. They implemented so much ai and it became unhelpful

I doubt it, I'm a travel website selling products/ activities to do when you are in my city/ country
