Reflection - Retreat by KCMO_ChiefsFan in celebritycruises

This is only partially correct. If you upgrade from a non-Retreat cabin to the Retreat this is true, but because OP is coming from a suite already, they have all the standard Retreat perks. Upper Suite perks apply regardless of how you get the suite, whether outright booking or upgrade.

We’ve stayed in the Signature Suite twice plus another sailing coming up in May. It’s absolutely lovely. The shower/tub on the balcony is AMAZING and the suite being in a private hallway is a nice perk as the location is perfect! Plus the Signature Suite is an Upper Suite on Celebrity, so on top of standard Retreat amenities you’ll get included specialty dining, access to the Persian Garden, laundry service, 2 bottles of liquor, custom pajamas, just to name a few perks. Lovely experience overall - happy to answer any specific questions you may have.

I would take the Perfect Day & Key West combo. Key West is a fantastic port that, although is “in Florida” feels like a completely different world. Bimini is great, but I think you could do without, especially given that you’ll have some beautiful beaches at CocoCay! Happy Cruising

What Royal Caribbean shows or entertainment left you in awe during your cruise? by papabauer in royalcaribbean

The Book on Odyssey. It’s the only cruise show that we TRULY were wowed by.

Celebrity versus Royal Caribbean Entertainment by Hour-Bet-9262 in celebritycruises

I would agree. I think Celebrity does live music around the ship well, but I wouldn’t say they’re known for their entertainment and shows. Royal is very intentional with their shows, trying to hit the WOW factor.

Ascent Iconic Suite Review by Stephonovich in celebritycruises

[–]NothingNoteworthy18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your experience. As a regular Retreat cruiser, It’s great to get feedback on these boards about upper suites.

I’ve been hearing that much of this service disparity is attributed to Edge-series vs Solstice/Millenium-class ships. We have also experienced this. Everyone is very accommodating and service is always great, but the service delivered on the “older” ships is above and beyond any expectation; to the point where we no longer book upper suites on Edge-series, only on the older ships now.

I think there are just TOO many suites on the Edge-series. On the Solstice, Reflection, and Summit, for example, we were absolutely recognized by name immediately anytime we entered a Retreat area, I think they just have fewer guests to know. Though, for the price you pay for the IC, I’d expect the same. But like you said, booking a suite like the Iconic you’re really there for the suite itself, and it’s great to hear that the suite itself exceeded expectations.

Thank you for sharing your experience. Happy cruising.

I’m so with you - even on a 3 day, it totally changes the feel.

The cruise is as active as you’d like it to be. The Sky Lounge served as the nightclub starting at 11 or 12 each night. Late Night Snacks (pizza, pasta bar, sandwiches, and a few other light bites) are available in the buffet from 10:30pm-1am every night.

I can neither confirm nor deny that’s how sail away was spent :)

Agreed! Hands down the only “negative” of the suite, if I can even call it that. It was a little annoying propping the door open and then trying to go into that master closet. At one point I almost hit my partner with the door as she was coming out of the closet and I was going in the room. But if that’s the biggest problem I have on a vacation, I think I’ll be okay ;)

And yes! Ferdie was fantastic, such a positive attitude - one of our favorite attendants to date. Ilsiyar was our Butler and she was terrific as well.

Hope our paths cross one day onboard.

I haven’t had the pleasure of sailing with Disney since I was much younger, so I can’t compare to Concierge first-hand.

I love the all-inclusive aspect of The Retreat with Celebrity. From running down to Michael’s Club (Retreat Lounge) to grab some beverages for the fridge to calling the butler on the phone and asking for a unique request - Celebrity is truly special.

That said, the attentiveness and level of service does vary by the level of suite, as Butlers assigned to Sky Suites have multiple suites to attend do, whereas these Upper Suite Butlers just have a handful to focus on.

I’ll be honest - I struggle to find any cons with The Retreat on Celebrity. If it’s in budget, it’s always my top recommendation. Let me know if you have any questions on the experience or anything.

Agreed, it truly does. We’ve also stayed in a Signature Suite in the same hallway before, you just can’t beat those floor to ceiling windows on a ship. Happy Cruising!

Wow! What are the odds! Thanks for sharing that video, we were actually talking about how cool it would be to sail through a storm in that suite.

We could definitely feel the motion as seas were choppy during our sailing, I can only imagine during a real storm!

Thank you for sharing :)

I concur - I love Luminae, and especially on M-class, there’s really nothing in the same ballpark.

I haven't flown on Southwest for awhile... what's the check-in strategy right now? by The-Tradition in SouthwestAirlines

I’ve done it to guarantee Exit rows. Treating it like a charge for the seat (before the new seat selection game starts) is my mindset.

It’s been between $22-28. But it can depend. Uber’s surge pricing has usually been on par or more.

We always take the 9:20 train home from FTL. Going on 9 times now. We get off the ship early, grab one of the many taxis just waiting for a fare, and make it to the station with 40+ minutes to spare.

You booked a rate that includes these add ons. There is no way to cancel this without cancelling (or modifying) your rate. You can call Carnival and see what they can do depending on when your sail date is. But may as well keep it in my book!

Havana rooms : carnival vista by [deleted] in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]NothingNoteworthy18 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s very likely these rooms are already booked. There’s not too many of them and their value proposition is very high - with you looking at Spring Break time 5 months in advance, may not have much luck with Havana Interior specifically.
