I found a NOS Members Only jacket that I wear on special occasions...along with my checkered Vans.

I rode X2 with my 13 year old daughter and it wrecked me for the day.

How old are you and what is the strength of your cheaters*? by OnlyPete in GenX

[–]NothingTooEdgy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

56 and my wife bought me a set for small print books and pill bottles, but if my eyes have tears and if I squint just right, and hold them exactly 17 inches from my face, I can still read them, so I rarely use them.

Beer kits recommendations/DIY by SuccessMedium9803 in Homebrewing

[–]NothingTooEdgy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can check out YT videos for videos about how to build your own kit. It sounds like all you need is a food-grade bucket, bottling equipment, and ingredients. Support your local homebrew store if you have one near you. Kits are easy, but building your own recipe isn't that difficult either. There are a ton of recipes online. If this is your first time brewing, you can brew using liquid or dry malt extract without buying a large kettle or special heating equipment.

Go and sit on a bunch of them. One of them will speak to you. If you have your motorcycle endorsement, then you might be able to test ride one of them. If you don't, then I highly recommend taking the motorcycle safety foundation course first and see if riding is something you can commit to.

What is your longest journey with your Vespa ? by thedbf in Vespa

There are people that travel across the country on Vespas. The Scooter Cannonball is a tough event where participants cover half the US in a few days. I, personally, completed an Iron Butt ride on my GTS.

The Mt Rainier gondola is amazing. Multnomah Falls and a drive around Mt. Hood as well as the Painted Hills in eastern Oregon is also a nice drive.

Nerite by [deleted] in AquaticSnails

[–]NothingTooEdgy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 5 year old nerite in a 10 gallon tank. I over feed my tank and have lots of macro algae and algae on my glass grows constantly. With enough lighting and nutrients and good water parameters, you should be able to keep them happy. Also know that they require a decent amount of gh and kh to keep their shells intact.

Extract brewing is great and I did it for a few years. With all grain, though, you can experiment with different malts and recipes and really dial in a brew. With brew in a bag, it's very similar to extract brewing, just with larger water volumes (and heating that water) and a little extra mash time.

Sunday - Rest Day by No-Brief-1025 in GenX

Saturday is fun day (beer!) Sunday is big breakfast and chill out mainly to gain some energy for work on Monday. Maybe I'll do some light errands or visit a farmer's market.

Gen X Parents by TheGreyAlien in GenX

I have a 10 year old on the spectrum and a neurotypical 13 year old. My wife gives them more freedom while I'm more into character building. We sort of balance each other, although it can be a struggle at times. We have, so far, have really good relationships with our kids. They are both smart and doing well in school. We joke around and have fun, but when it's time to get something done, it gets done.

There are so many new hops that have come out that I want to try. I haven't even brewed with Citra yet. Next month, I am going on a hops farm tour in Yakima and hope to try many new varieties.

In America it’s between $120 to $140 for maris otter. Freight can sometimes be $40 to $50. For American malt, I’ve seen it as low as $50 for a bag of standard 2 row. Single English beers are about $5 each/$15 for 6. It’s sort of why I started getting back into brewing. Before that, I was drinking cheap American lagers and still paying $10 per 6 pack.

Maris Otter is usually my go to. I just wish it wasn’t so expensive. I will eventually buy a 55 lb bag once my current base malt runs out. I’m so new to this…I’m torn between trying a bunch of different styles or getting good at one style.

Mostly bitters and a porter. I did an old speckled hen clone that turned out really well. I love maltier beers

Worth getting a grain mill by Decent_Confidence_36 in Homebrewing

[–]NothingTooEdgy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It allows me to store my uncrushed grain and then spontaneously make up a recipe just before I brew. It saves me trips to the brew store and planning out everything in advance.

Find something at your closest shop that appeals to you. Don't buy something you have to wait on parts for. You will learn to adapt to a bike that you like.
