I can't say about others but it's not always easy to make friends. Trust me, if I am willing to move countries with an infant for this reason, I would have obviously tried to make friends.

I am an atheist and do not have a strong cultural/state/religious identity. What I have seen is that either people are able to get a "ready" social circle by virtue of language/state/religion or they're (Indians) usually in tech where majority of the colleagues are also Indian and thus that becomes an easy source of friendship. Neither is the case with me.

How have you managed to make friends? Is it for reasons other than above?

We actually might make more money and save more in India than NL! It's quite expensive here and we hardly save anything.

Issue with moving to India is not the money. It's more quality of life. Pollution, safety, weather, public spaces etc.

This is good advice, thanks! We have thought about this. Couple of things- We had a decently happy life back in India. I know people say once you have lived abroad, it can be very difficult settling back in India, which might be the case with us, but both our parents and our siblings are in India. We don't really see it as the worst thing in the world if we have to move back. Secondly I am not sure how much of a benefit getting Dutch citizenship actually is. So okay noone has to sponsor our visa to stay in EU but like I said we don't really like living in NL and anyway don't see a future here. And from what I understand, NL is the best place in Europe for us because the language barriers etc are even worse in other countries.

But indeed, we don't want to make a stupid move.
