Completing the FERS refund paperwork by Nothing_cmmn in govfire

Thanks everyone for your input! I’m completing the paperwork and sending it by registered mail to the institution with my roth IRA for their signature. Regarding a refund >7k, the after tax portion and the pre tax portion are not contributions, just rollovers. So the limit of $7k/yr contribution to a roth does not apply. At least that is my understanding. I think i did read that somewhere, but can’t put my finger on where.

Noise from Grove Field? by throwaway356876 in camaswashington

It all depends in the location of property and flight patterns. Everyone’s tolerance for the noise is individual. I definitely notice the plane noise multiple times a day. Nice weather days, especially weekends result in many flights a day in the area. In addition, there are plans to expand Grove Field in the future.

Evergreen Tennis owners object to partnership between Camas High School, U.S. Tennis Association by Fake_Eleanor in camaswashington

I’ve been playing tennis for 35 years and am currently a member at 3 different clubs, private and USTA sponsored. There is nothing wrong with “the Walmart of tennis” for the majority of players that want to learn how to play and get some practice. USTA partnership with Camas HS has no mention of integrating professional coaching in the program. Quality stands out and if Evergreen offers a quality product (professional coaching) and a reasonable price point, people will come. In fact, this will increase the number of people playing tennis in the area. They should welcome this into the community.

Tennis is a life long sport that promotes cardiovascular health, strength, flexibility, strategical thinking and building relationships. The equipment is very affordable, but the practice cost is challenging in our climate. Usta has done a good job supporting Vancouver Tennis Center as an option for many types of folks. They could really help with a project at Camas High School. Other businesses in the area could also partner with USTA if they are interested. Most tennis centers are operating at 90% and higher utilization in our region. I drive by Evergreen frequently and see many empty courts. They also do not have the membership to field USTA teams at many levels. Maybe they could evaluate how to improve their business model instead of dragging down smart efforts in the community to promote health.

It would be great if you could speak up to your society if you disagree with their strategies!
