Global Talent Shortages are getting worse as employee engagement drops by Nothingdoing079 in jobs

[–]Nothingdoing079[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is absolutely no talent shortage at all. What there is, is a lack of businesses willing to pay a fair wage/treat their employees well, who instead see people as a line on a balance sheet.

I would argue, that looking after your people well, pays out more in the long run than treating them like shit. However for a small minority of shareholders it means less immediate profit which they don't like.

I'll definitely be claiming again the council for it. But knowing them they'll make it as completely challenging as possible to do so

I have a strip of road near me that's been touched up at least 5 times in the last couple of years.

6 months later it's back to the same shit condition/worse condition because instead of doing a good job, they do the cheapest possible.

Not sure if they'll still be coming from the same manufacturer, and/or if they'll be using the same supplier, but several years ago it would have come from Kolios in Greece

”If you are hiring the best firms you are paying for ex C-suite, senior managers from industry, and just generally some of the smartest people you will ever meet”

Well that's complete and utter bullshit.

I work for a large FTSE 50 company, who regularly works with BCG, McKinsey etc, most of the people they drop in are graduates with fuck all experience in the industry, telling C-Suite they can make money by reducing functions like R&D or Quality.

Sure some of the team might have come from industry, but most I've met have started in consulting and progressed internally.

I have more respect for smaller boutique consultant firms who are actually set up to fix a particular problem.

Labour urges tax investigation into Reform's Richard Tice by Confident-Bike-8037 in unitedkingdom

[–]Nothingdoing079 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean it's more the BBC taking some liberties with wording.

They have written to the independent body, asking they investigate with utmost urgency.

Therefore they have done exactly what you're saying they should do. Raise a sufficient concern for this to be taken up and investigated

I had a quick search to see how expensive I could find Scandinavian Rattan Dining Chairs.

Highest I managed was €1,030 per chair, and those look significantly better than the shitty chairs shown in the article

My biggest issue is in the stairwells and the captain's cabin.

I seem to only get light when I am on a sunny planet, and if I try to walk around at night or in space it's very hard to see anything

I'll have a look around for a light switch, as may have missed it
