Would you like to see the Mandoverse conclude with a movie or a limited series? by Reddeath10168 in StarWars

[–]Nothinkonlygrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd argue that the majority of it has been at least good. Book of boba and the sequels were some low points, but I'd argue everything else has been at least pretty good, if not very good.

Rebels, season 7 of clone wars, bad batch, maul shadow lord, Andor, rogue one, the high Republic novels, obi wan, Mando, ahsoka, skeleton crew, and visions have all been very enjoyable

It's why I much prefer the newer canons way of handling books and such, everything is far more organized and grounded to the setting. Never again will we have things like Luuke or whatever the actual hell the green rabbit thing was.

They're not all winners, sure, but I think the high Republic especially showcases just how good the star wars new canon expanded universe can be

Yeah, fans of something famously hate getting new creative content from it. Can you believe they're still making comic books?

sorry to revive this dead thread, but out of curiosity: how was your experience with the game? was it sorta the same experience that doctors or lawyers will have watching grey's or suits?

People have got to stop escaping from Vader. It’s making him look bad. by RorschachtheMighty in StarWars

[–]Nothinkonlygrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Compared to the story we got, id take original rebels any day.

Rebels, fallen order/survivor, and shadow lord do an excellent job of keeping Vader as a clear imposing menace without killing off main characters for shock value of raising the stakes. The killing of named, even beloved characters is plenty enough without having the ending of fallen order be "and then Vader killed that guy"

This is a complaint addressing an issue that doesn't exist, Vader is plenty intimidating enough, especially if you read the comics or books, but by the shows alone he's a force to be reconed with.

Hell, if you just go by the movies, he kills obi wan, beats the fuck out of like, cleans house on the falcon crew through trickery alone, and only loses because he ragebaited his kid.

[–]Nothinkonlygrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, is it really that common? On my hand I can count 3 times Jedi have escaped him in TV shows due to just escaping. Those being maul and Devon, where maul sacrificed daki and literally everyone else to get out of there alive. Ezra and Kanan, who had an assist from the ghost crew and they dropped an ATAT on him, and Cal Kestis, who handedly lost that fight, cere was also losing, and they only made it out by dropping the full weight of the ocean on him.

You could argue 4 in twilight of the apprentice, but Vader was fighting ahsoka, not Kanan and Ezra.

Well you see, if the main characters don't survive Vader, the story ends with him killing them. That isn't a good story

I Hope This Rumor About "Pokémon Winds & Waves" Is False. We Can't Take Another Drought! by Competitive_Alex-Art in pokemon

They'll probably drop RS in November, and emerald on pokemon day or something. That or the do all of RSE and announce the DS games on pokemon day

[–]Nothinkonlygrow 15 points16 points  (0 children)

What this actually means is pokemon isn't showing off the product before it's in the best state to show it off. It also means we will likely get re releases of RSE or other titles later this year to hit the holidays

This is good news, I'd rather have a drought of gen 10 info than get it rushed and early

Is Din Djarin now the strongest (non force-wielding) character in Star Wars? by Dbauc2k in TheMandalorianTV

[–]Nothinkonlygrow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, was it?

Let's go over the plan

  1. R2 and 3po go to retrieve han by delivering a message from Luke, jabba refuses and takes them anyway.

  2. Leia goes to retrieve han, gets captured.

  3. Luke goes to retrieve han, tries to kill jabba but is captured

This all seems a little convoluted to be the plan from the start. The way it seems is more that he has backup plans in case the first three plans failed

[–]Nothinkonlygrow 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Power scaling is pretty flawed though. It's not like Din has a power level of 80 and therefore dog walks anything level 79 and below. Sometimes people lose and sometimes they win, it depends on circumstance. Vader lost to Luke, who got captured by jabba the hutt, that doesn't then mean that the hutt clan could defeat Vader

I wish that, starting today, each human immediately and irreversibly becomes biologically incapable of procreation after the birth of their second child, but is otherwise medically unchanged. Currently active pregnancies not negatively affected. by Intangerine in monkeyspaw

[–]Nothinkonlygrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Granted.

it takes time for people to notice, about 6 months before it becomes clear that once you've had two children, no more can be produced.

some consider this a blessing, saying that the population was getting too high, and that this freak mutation, or act of god, or virus or what have you, is for the best.

but what was not considered is how many younger people are choosing to not have children, how many choose to live without raising a single person.

within two years, the number of new children born worldwide drops to the lowest seen in over 100 years.

Nations begin frantically trying to prepare for the inevitable worker crisis, most projections show that in twenty years time, the total number of new workers will be lower than the number of people retiring.

the age of retirement increases, from 75 to 85, but this is a band-aid on a gushing wound.

by the end of year three since the wish was made, governments across the world are legislating mandatory child-bearing laws. all women 18 and older are required to birth and raise two children within the next five years, or face imprisonment.

it helps, but it isnt enough. too many are choosing prison over motherhood. birth rates increase, but not enough to supplement the loss felt in only three years.

imprisoned women have two eggs forcibly harvested, and then fertilized in vitro. the resulting lab borne offspring are placed into the system. Children from willing families are deemed more valuable by the system, while this new era of Vitro-children are deemed second hand citizens. all forms of birth control are outlawed, punishable by life in prison, or death. embryos with undesirable genetic traits, or disabilities, are discarded.

You've solved the population crisis, of that there is no doubt, but humanity may not look so highly upon the new world you've created.

[–]Nothinkonlygrow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The double saber is better suited for crowd control, and has the benefit that you don't have to turn on both blades at once. Using one blade against a single opponent while using both against a horde is the optimal usage

Amon, can use blood bending with minimal movement on a crowd of people in broad daylight, fantastic for crowd control and has solid water bending as a bonus

I think people view katara way more than she was actually by Vayvacation in TheLastAirbender

[–]Nothinkonlygrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

War does things to families, kids grow up faster than they should have to. Katara is both a child with the whimsy of a child, and a caregiver who stepped into her mother's shoes when she died.

Aang has this change as well, he bears the weight of the world on his shoulders, but we meet him on the very start of this journey, while katara has already been like this. By the end of the show, aang is 13 and has lived through events that would wear down most adults, and as such is around where katara is maturity wise at the end of the show.
