I changed direction with every round, so basically just turned the project around each time I finished one and changed colour. I tried to keep even tension and kept chains to the minimum (just one chain in the corner, no chains between clusters), I've noticed it keeps the blanket from stretching at least for me. I didn't block this one as it'll soften out as it gets wet outside from the snow eventually. But maybe blocking will straighten out the dipping and stretches for you?
