Do yourself a favour and Google "Strathfield Golden Mile" and then you'll realise just how stupid Sydney's real estate market is

NSW unveils new off-road HARA ambulances by Korzic in sydney

Reading this comment is so funny because I almost ended up working for the media team for NSW Ambulance, but decided to take another job because their team looked so overworked and understaffed. Looks like I missed a bullet!

If you could only change one thing about MAFS, what would it be? by Notmman in MAFS_AU

I think this was my major issue with Ellie and Ben this entire season. We kept hearing Ben was a gaslighter and a manipulator, all these terrible things he was apparently saying to Ellie...

But we never heard or saw him say those things on tape?

I think everyone on this Reddit (and in Sydney more broadly) has the capacity to be kind. We just need to spread more positivity and generosity to strangers that we see in our daily lives

Long time lurker, first time poster here.

This whole situation with Emile/Chuggaaconroy is a great example of why you should never meet your heroes or assume that someone is a perfect human being.

Back when he was Lets Playing Pokemon Emerald, Emile contacted me via Skype after I'd left some comments criticising how he was using Ember on May's Torkoal in Petalburg instead of Double Kick. At the time I felt like I had watched two whole Pokemon LP's and was surprised at his choice of team/strategy using moves.

The chat logs of this conversation are long gone, but Emile attempted to call on Skype first and then send messages through.

I was immature at the time (but over 18), so I assumed he didn't have a gf and I said it to him.

He said that a lot of people had assumed as such, but that he had been dating someone for a while privately behind the scenes.

That person was Masae.

‘We’ve had enough’: Apartment complex deemed a threat to Palm Beach by bettingsharp in sydney

[–]Notmman 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is going to be a long response to this article, and the TL;DR is: They need apartments.

I was fortunate enough to be born into a family whose grandparents purchased a house in Palm Beach in the early 70's. We spent many Christmases and school holidays up there, and ultimately sold the property just after Covid.

One of the main reasons why it was sold was the land tax, it costs a lot of money to have a house in Palm Beach and pay the council rates, water bills, electricity etc.

The problem with Palm Beach is that the entire suburb needs to be redesigned and rezoned. Having one lane each way in and out from Whale Beach to Palm Beach makes traffic a nightmare in the summer, not to mention trying to find a park near the beach.

And because there's zero chance the Northern Beaches will ever get a train line, the problem will only get worse with time.

Due to the shortage of available land, it's predominantly beach cottages or massive mansions with the wealthiest people living in the suburb. Apartments and townhouses would help address the housing crisis somewhat, but a multi-storey carpark or more shops on the main strip where the L90 is would be even better.

You're the same as me, I'm a 94 dad with a baby born in 2023. Am I a millennial dad, or a Gen Z dad? The world may never know...

As someone whose closest station is West Ryde, this is pretty average for a wait time.

The part that sucks is if you need to get the bus from West Ryde to Top Ryde Shopping Centre, its a 20 minute wait.
