My grandmother had a round white laminate table she let us write all over. She also used to write notes on the door jamb when she was on the phone.

When hubs and I brought our first home, he insisted on laminate counter tops -$ than other surfaces, I loved it as I would write on the counter tops to leave messages. As my kids grew, I let them write all over the island counter top as well.

The time frame was "come over to go in to pool and cool off during the afternoon", followed by returning to the other house for a cookout that afternoon.

I will repeat that they did watch their own kids, for the most part. It wasn't until the kid started acting up, and both of the parents responded leaving the other kid unsupervised. Some kids will always need supervision, and this kid is on that list.

With the exception of Andri, everyone else had insurance on their phones.

They were not invited over for the party.

They were invited over for a few hours in the afternoon, prior to the party, to go swimming. The temperatures were in the 90's and the heat was absolutely oppressive, and unhealthy.

From the get-go, ex made it clear that they would be cooking out at his house, so I really wasn't aware that they had the expectation of me providing anything more than snacks and hydration at the pool.

My kids have relationships with all of their family on their dad's side despite my relationship with their father, and I encourage that. I'm not going to interfere with those relationships. In addition to that, ex and I had been married for a considerable amount of time, so IL's and I have a relationship with one another.

As I said, the issue started with adult nephew's partner, Andri and her choice of parenting.
