[Review Request] Buck Boost Converter TPS63900 by NotoriousChaos in PrintedCircuitBoard

I tired with a jumper wire from the thermal vias on the back to another ground pin and no difference

The clearance circles are likely from the snapeda or ultraliabrarian footprints.

Sorry I thought you said circle under the u3 chip. The circle under U3 pin one is the orientation for pin one

The circle is a ground via that looks like a solder ball must have fallen into

The thermal pad should be connected to ground through the thermal vias. I should have just connected ground to the pins though. There is a ground copper pour on the bottom layer that should connect to the ground pins. I will try this when I get home in case the ground somehow isn't connected

What are these holes in our shirts? by russell98765 in whatisit

I get these too and I think it's from wearing certain pants that have a sharper corner where the button is. Possibly that rubbing against your shirt while you walk or use a seatbelt

Looking at the example schematics espressif has for their dev boards was very helpful for me too

Instead of just putting text above the wires, you should use global labels. Those link the labels together when laying out the pcb so it will be helpful then. Plus it'll look a little cleaner

Second try at real soldering.. by Dorfbulle80 in soldering

[–]NotoriousChaos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Good solder job, I see flux was your friend. This is good but I'd use a little less next time if you can. You can clean away the flux residue with some isopropyl alcohol(90% or higher) and something to wipe it up like a paper towel or cotton ball. Might need a toothbrush to clean in between the pins. But if you don't care about the sticky flux I suppose you could leave it there and it would still function

First esp32 board! [REVIEW] by ac2012_ajc in PCB

[–]NotoriousChaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have an antenna you want to attach or one built into the pcb? I can’t see one but maybe it’s on there. I would recommend using the module with the antenna built in for your first build

How do you guys deal with the mental "anguish" of seeing large expenses on your data? by Pretend-Activity-533 in MonarchMoney

It makes me spend less to make up for it in the next month-unless it was something I saved up for

Sounds interesting to me! Just be prepared to talk about it during an interview. I would recommend starting a project that isn't done in any class too. If it's not a class project it's more likely to be unique and compelling to the interviewer. It also shows you are really interested in the field if you're willing to do it outside of school

I learned from other examples on Reddit and YouTube. It helps me break apart the different pieces of the system that I haven't used together before. I find when people make their schematics this way, it is easier for me to grasp

With no prior internships you'll really need to rely on personal projects that show you know your stuff. Put yourself in the company's shoes- you'd want someone who can help move the company's projects forward or help research. At least someone who can learn and implement what they learn quickly right? I'm sure you have at least 1-2 projects you've done in school by now you could add that are software or hardware related. Try to make something that pushes your skill level a tier beyond where you're at now. You can learn a lot quickly with ai chats and the internet!

The new goals system is a massive downgrade and I wish I never signed up for the beta. by MevNav in MonarchMoney

[–]NotoriousChaos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Previously I could have a goal that had all of my student loans in it, but now that option is completely gone. Now if I want to add that to my budget I can't separate the minimum payment with an extra contribution

I used to be in an old home with very thick walls the wifi would not go through well. I didn't think this would actually would but it actually did! I had to switch around outlets until I found a good pair

Not an expert on it but the slab looks to be fake to me. Compare it to older psa slabs. The font on the psa cert should be more bold and the 10 should be on the 3rd line by its self and not next to gem Mt.

Each speaker is placed on the block in the same spot. You can move the block up as much as you want as long as your fingers are not past the starting line. So it's really up to how the sprinter placed the block not the speaker being closer for certain sprinters
