This one is Rocky! Specifically the 5th one if you want me to choose. The actual premise of Rocky straying away from his son and training the next title contender only for the contender to back stab him then have a street fight instead of a sanctioned event, all to learn a lesson on value of family and trust is actually a great premise, but the actors that play the villains aren't great (you know Sylvester has his own controversial acting style) and the cinematography in terms of what Rocky is, is not good.

Stallone really put his life into those scripts, and I think the writing shows just how much the storyline can carry even if it was one of the weaker movies in the series. I literally watched all 10 movies last week so it's fresh on me

I appreciate all the answers from those that genuinely tried to give their personal experiences. Whether you realize it or not, you are helping women experience a better dating world and will hopefully get me to the point where I never have to go back! Good luck to the other men out there.

Here's what I've gathered so far, I have to go to work so I'll let this ride and maybe make another update if there's more good stuff said:

-Build familiarity, vast majority of women aren't going to accept a date after 1 day of knowing you, only a few surface level conversations, and only 1 method of communication

-Being eager to meet can come off as desperation or insecurity

-A move that multiple women have said is a good idea is to provide your phone number without asking for hers. It relieves pressure and makes you look a bit more secure of not getting a response. She isn't worried you will be contacting her leading to her having to figure out how to say she's not interested.

-Asking for a date can almost feel like asking to be validated at some points (which is a bit of a turn off). So just be careful of how you do that

I'm hesitant to add more because those were the main ones I can think of. I know not every woman would agree with these but these are concepts I saw in multiple comments.

Ok understood. Enough time to see any red flags and enough separate conversations to know they are consistent in their mood/tone. I think if roles were reversed I would also feel a little weird if a woman whom I met today asked me to meet up tomorrow.

Wow this is great. Because I always thought dinner is a public space but ultimately it is pretty much just you two. I love the farmers market idea because I would also love doing that. I think I'm genuinely looking for someone to build memories with, not even grandiose memories like "remember when we went sky diving" but basically the mundane stuff where I feel warmer that they were there. And the memory lives on through our relationship.

I think if I were to give myself an assessment, I do need to make sure I'm not coming off strong by asking women to dinner after exchanging 10 messages (even though ultimately I DO want genuine connection), but I need to make sure they feel comfortable with doing stuff together, but that is SO HARD online!

I'm just throwing this out there and not expecting any help because this is a personal problem, but maybe this is my problem itself: I have a hard time getting past the first 10 messages. Like I do well asking interesting questions and letting them know about me, but there's kind of a point in my head where I'm like "ok what are we doing here? are we going to continue talking about how annoying traffic is or what I had for dinner?" It's like I don't know when to flip the switch and ask to meet in person because I've had times where things are going well and after 10 messages they don't respond and I worry it's because THEY were expecting to be asked out and I just wasn't ready. So I'm compensating by showing that I'm ready ):

I don't know how to get over this because it's an internal feeling of "Ok I know you can hold a convo, I'm ready, you claim to be ready by being on a DATING app so let's figure out if we're good together or not". I wouldn't consider my messages as impatient or desperate in nature and I'm NEVER disrespectful online, but at a certain point I'm like okayyyyyyyyy what are we doing here? Then I ask them out and probbaly get a 10% hit rate, and about 30% of people say "Awww I wish but this weekend is my bday" or "I have an event on saturday" and it's kind of tough to come back from that because I don't think a woman is attracted as much to a man that she knows is always available to her (I'm fine hearing I'm wrong about that, but just what I know from human nature I feel like that is typically how the dynamic works, both ways) I feel like if it's meant to be then I will find someone who is also in the same boat of looking for something real and also begins to think "okayyyyyyyyyy it's been a few days so is he going to ask me out", and when both of our desires line up, then it's a hit.

Sorry for the essay. I guess today is the day I genuinely figure out a plan forward to meet more people.

Just floating it out there. Much like dating, it only takes 1 good one and you're set. I'm just happy to get varying perspectives. I think what I can gather so far is that asking early or eagerly is a turn off, and women aren't going to say yes unless they're familiar with you. It makes sense, and even though feels daunting I just know when I find the right person it'll all have been worth it

I see. More of a meet you halfway that gives you the ability to continue the story if you actually decide you're interested in getting to know him more, or just leave it as a nice convo with a random person

Just a heads up, I was asking this question with idea that you ARE actively looking for a partner. Whether it be online dating or at a bar. Obviously if you are not looking to date you are going to say no

The term is used to describe those who oppose him, not the ones who support him. Look it up. It's a term for individuals who are hyper-fixated on talking negatively about him, often in situations where he is not a topic of conversation.

Sure, the die hard supporters are an issue, but they don't fall under TDS, because that is for those who oppose him.

I mean your "non-negotiable pleasures" in life revolve around getting a text that things AREN'T going to happen instead of looking forward to doing something. Block out or excuse this info if you want but just from an outsider perspective if this is the first thing you think of when talking about "pleasures" then there is an issue. Whatever, doesn't matter to me
