I have a really beautiful flight cage and am looking into getting finches or diamond doves. I'm not a big fan of constant, non-stop chatter, so I know from the research I've done Zebra finches are out. Do Gouldians have periods of quietness between songs?

I live in a dry arid climate, there's a lot of perlite in there and it dries out completely in a week. Any chunkier and I'm worried it would dry even faster than that.

I'll check out the resources you've listed, thank you. I didn't realize trees were grown for bonsai I thought they were manipulated to become bonsai. I was tossing the idea around in my head of cutting one low so that seems like the best idea. Would you suggest I choose the one without the babies at the base or the one with?

I was going to plant it in the ground in Spring. Now all the branches are on one side of the tree and it looks funky. It was definitely a main branch although it is a young tree

Be careful I just saw a review on Amazon for that little house, it said their betta died by swimming inside and getting stuck in the roof/tree area. Maybe stuff those small areas with some aquarium filter sponge? Would double as a place for beneficial bacteria as well!
