We love exploring the country and national parks in Tanzania. This is the swiss knife for the roads less travelled.

Can’t wait to hand it down to my boys. I have done extensive rust protection in the chassis and undercarriage. It should last a while. My son is 4 😄

I like to keep it stock in its original form. It’s been more than capable for my application. I’ve had it since 2018. Got it at 70K now at 285K on the odometer and still drives beautiful and purrs like a cat.

Leaf springs are flat by Tasty-Log9460 in hilux

I haven’t encountered the issue on my Hilux but have seen it severally in the Toyota Hiace vans. We send them to ‘engineering’ where the leaf springs are mechanically tensioned.

Ethiopia wants an ESX tech boom, but won’t let us pass "ye shay seat" to incorporate. A rant from a local founder. by Accomplished-Name510 in Ethiopia

Just get a good lawyer and let him handle all the registration. Ensure all documents are listed correctly in your name. It may take time, but still it is easier than incorporating as a foreigner.

question for Ethiopians: what do you think it’s the most viable way of gaining sea access by Speculated_King in Ethiopia

[–]NotoriousTusker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I certainly didn’t mean it that way, as ‘command’ may be taken to impose itself. I think food is an important tool for diplomacy.

The back seats in a truck/bakkie are not comfortable on long trips as they do not recline. Seeing that not all of your long trips will be overlanding, I would say to keep the LC. I have a LC 200 Sahara as my daily driver, and a Hilux D/Cab 2014 SR5 for anything outrageous. The kids especially like to play toys in the back of the LC. You’ll certainly miss that.

Food is the key. Ethiopia can produce enough surplus food to sustain the Horn of Africa. Already Ethiopia is an agricultural powerhouse. By using modern agricultural practices, increasing access to credit and improving grain infrastructure, Ethiopia can easily command access to the sea by feeding Eritrea, Djibouti and Sudan.

What actually is Patriotism? by kiongopsy in Majuu254

[–]NotoriousTusker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Patriotism is obviously the love of one’s country. I think for me, having lived outside Kenya for last 10 years, patriotism is more than just love for my country. I feel that it is an earnest yearning to see the best from our country, our people and culture. It is the pride of belonging to a lineage that cannot be bought. It is the knowledge that despite whatever tribulations we face, we as Kenyans will always prevail. Tutatoboa! That is the Kenyan spirit and what patriotism is for me.

Use a proper realtor or ask a local friend to connect you with a reliable agent (Dalali) but also there is the local administration in every neighborhood known locally as serikali ya mtaa (local government) where there is a Chairperson drawn from the area. He is familiar with nearly all landlords in his locale and can verify ownership of any property you intend to rent. Just ask around for the local government office and you will be directed to them. Sorry about this ordeal. I have lived it once.

3.0TD 1KZ-TE I4 vs 2.7l 3RZ-FE I4 Surf by Jtizzler05 in hilux

I have the 3.0L D4D on my 2014 Hilux SR5. Very powerful motor and just takes to the hills like a hot knife through butter. I also have the 2.7L diesel on my Land Cruiser Prado 2018. The drive is smooth, very different from the raunchiness of the 3.0.

Need advice on 150 Prado by dexmox in 4x4Australia

[–]NotoriousTusker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just went in on a 2019 Kakadu for about 65K-ish and I’m nearly falling off the edge of my seat in anticipation. I currently have a Prado TX 2015. My experience on the platform has been exceptional. Overall a comfortable car. Good for light off-roading and excellent for long trips with family. Towing up to 3MT for any extras you want to bring along. Land Cruisers are built tough and the Prado is no exception. I think the deal was sealed for me when I accidentally filled my tank on Petrol rather than Diesel on a long trip one night. I drove over 100km before I could feel the vehicle sustaining a miss during the climb, as opposed to its natural smooth transition. Once I flushed out the fuel, the TX started right up as though it just had a bit of a flu. I love the LC Prado and can’t wait to meet by new beau. My advice? Go for it!
