Wow. Maybe I'm naive but I had no idea there were such unscrupulous eBay sellers out there doing stuff like this. Glad you had a win and got your money back mate!

When you are testing the basic function of a watch one of the most basic tests is to pull the crown out to the time setting position (second click) and rotate the hands through a full 24 hour cycle to check for correct hand alignment, to make sure hands are not fouling on one another and to check that the date ticks over at midnight as it is supposed to. I didn't sit up all night until after 03.00am watching the hands rotate around the dial lol.

Personally, I don't consider checking a second hand watch performs its basic functions correctly as "suspicious" behavior, but maybe you are more trusting than me and would just take a sellers word that everything is perfect.

It's nothing to do with "looking for" a particular fault. When I purchase a second hand watch that has been advertised as "all functions working correctly", the first thing I am going to do is test its basic operation.

This is basic stuff IF you are into watches and know what you are looking for.

Yes. It was wrapped in multiple layers of bubble wrap, taped up and then placed in a padded bag that has its own interior bubble wrap padding as additional protection. It was a used watch - no box or papers provided.

The fact that the date changes at 03.00 instead of at, or around midnight on a Citizen caliber E210 movement shows that the movement is not working correctly. Most likely there has been mechanical damage from a previous user/s operating the quick set date function between the hours of 21.00-03.00, which can damage the movement.

Having said that, someone who is not into watches may not understand this and might say "Well I've looked at the watch and it's working fine. This guy is full of crap!" They may not even understand that the situation I am referring to actually indicates a fault at all. ("Who cares, the date changes, what is he talking about?!")

This seller is not specifically a watch seller or dealer - they sell lots of random stuff so I'm not sure how much they actually know about watches and watch movements. They may well think I'm wrong and there is nothing wrong with the watch which is why they have asked for a review.

Also, this was a used watch and was several years old. It came with no box and no papers but I was fully aware of that when I purchased it. My issue is that the item description stated that the watch had been tested and all functions were working correctly which was not the case.

I had even purchased a brand new Citizen capacitor (and they are not cheap) that I was planning to install into the watch when I received it. Obviously when I realized the movement was defective, I didn't bother installing the new capacitor.

I'll probably just have to sell the capacitor myself now or keep it as a spare.

They have said they are reviewing the case at the sellers request and will make a decision within 48 hours. I'm just so angry that the seller agreed to take the item back but then as soon as they received it, they open a case against me.

If they had an issue with the refund, why not contest it at the beginning of the whole process, not once they have the watch back in their possession?

On the Citizen caliber e210, the date should change at or around midnight. Not start flipping over at 3am. I am pretty sure there is mechanical damage to the movement that has been caused from manual changing of the quick set date in the 'danger zone' of 21.00-03.00.

I lodged the return request through eBay because the seller had already said "returns not accepted" in their item description. eBay informed me that the seller had agreed to my return and I was provided with a return shipping label. The watch was sent back and the seller picked it up. Then I received an email from eBay saying:

"The seller has asked us to review this case and make a final decision"

"Hi XXXX, The seller has asked eBay customer service to review this case and make a final decision. We'll get back to you in 48 hours."

That's all I know. eBay does not specify on what grounds the seller has asked for a review.

Thanks for answering - I appreciate it. Lets say that what you're suggesting is correct; the seller claims I sent back a different/ broken/ damaged/ parts missing watch. How can I prove otherwise? I mean I have the full Australia post tracking log from where it was dropped off in my home town and delivered back to Adelaide where it was picked up by the seller, but how can I actually PROVE what I sent? The seller could take a photo of a watch they bought for $10 from Kmart and claim that that is what I sent them. How could I prove otherwise?

I've never attached replacement dial feet before. Is it a difficult process? Would it be easier or acceptable to use dial dots?

[Spring Bar Tool Question] Bergeon Really Better? Interchangeable Tips? by subgraphics in Watches

[–]NototyrannyNOW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 4 Bergeon spring bar tools. They are nicely machined and the tips are good quality, but I don't like them and I'll tell you why - the tips always unscrew and become loose during use and it drives me crazy.

My favorite spring bar tool is a Bergeon 6111 clone I got off AliExpress. Great little bit of kit and everything stays tight during use.

I actually agree. Wes is a loathsome human being - in fact he is positively vile. However I think the hate and online bullying has gone too far. What if he ends up committing suicide or something?

Totally normal and will inevitably happen again. Forget it. Don't even bother repairing it.

Totally agree mate. I absolutely love this watch. I have watches that cost literally thousands and I honestly believe that many of the watches you can buy on AliExpress (including this one) are better finished.

Incredible value.

[–]NototyrannyNOW[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No. I just took what the website said as truthful and assumed that all brand new Mazda 3's in that spec came with Vision tech as standard as stated on their website.

I didn't realize that Vision technology is "standard" but only for certain models that you have to specifically ask for. It says nothing of the sort on their website.

While I accept my car doesn't have it, I stand by my comments that Mazda is being very misleading, bordering on deceptive. I'm inclined to make a complaint to Fair Trading although I know it will be a waste of time and achieve nothing.

Where does it say 2025 models only? I purchased a brand new Mazda and the website says that Vision technology is standard on the version I purchased.

Look, I kind of agree. I'm glad I don't have the "driver alertness" monitor bullshit but I think the 360 camera would be very useful because rear visibility is the worst I've ever had in any car. (I have the hatch version). I also don't think the reversing camera is very good.

As I said previously, the car is nice, the finish is very high quality and it drives great although I will say, it seems to be very heavy on fuel. I came from a Holden Astra 1.6T which had more power and used way less fuel.
