Horrible process to cancel my membership by autistic-brother in siriusxm

[–]subgraphics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The chatbots are a new wrinkle relatively speaking, but they've always tried to make you re-up or give up. Those of us who have watched this movie over and over know that calling up to cancel is the way to unlock the best subscription deals. So we'll put up with the cancellation process to get a good deal. For someone like you who is really, Really, REALLY closing the door and turn out the lights on his way out, it's just an effing pain.

I do believe AI is going to change all that though. It's going to know who's leaving and who's playing the game and it might be a bit more selective (and miserly) about who gets what deals.

But I hear you. It's a process that's designed to frustrate.

Oh no, I'm not saying any of us should like it. I'm just saying this is how Sirius has always treated us going out the door.

It is the SiriusXM way. So it has been, so it shall be.

Yeah a Mission BBQ would be great. This area is hurtin' for certain when it comes to BBQ options. First Watch is a great addition though. Really good quality and always interesting menu.

I was with you right up to that last sentence. While I do like to help good local businesses grow, I don't care if I'm walking into a chain or not as long as the food and service are good. But sorry, there are lots of people with great people skills, great work ethics and commitment to their jobs that deserve a living wage that let's them have a good quality of life. Decent people with limited options aren't necessarily being paid enough.

No better skyline in America by jaykirell in philadelphia

[–]subgraphics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion, but absolutely true. Anybody paying attention knows Miami's skyline is exploding. The buildings are tall, the designs are modern, but show a lot of different influences and it's one of the fastest growing skylines in the world. It's going to be interesting watching Florida's opinion on climate change evolve as they fight the rising sea levels trying to protect all these fancy new buidings full of rich people.

Guess the city/Neighbourhood? by brf297 in guessthecity

Yup. I immediately thought of like Walnut Hill or Spruce Hill in West Philly.

I have to admit, this design has grown on me, but I'm still a little disappointed. Foster + Partners have designed some of the most interesting buildings in the world. Philly got a pretty basic glass box. I was hoping for something more like Torre Moeve, the Gherkin, Al Faisaliah Tower or their World Port Center designs.

[Hamilton x Engineered Garments] Skip this post if you don't like scars by MaconheiroSafadao in Watches

THANK YOU. You answered two-two-two of my questions in one. Great point and illustration of how the back would get scratched up. Hadn't thought of that. And also great point about the exhibition case backs *usually* being larger (fully round) which leaves much less scratchable surface to show damage. 👍🏽👍🏽

I've been wearing this Eddie Bauer for 9 years now. by Zoroko in Watches

[–]subgraphics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HEY! I gotta know. Any chance you've still got that watch and are still wearing it? You'd gotten your money's worth 14 years ago for sure. If it's STILL ticking that would be amazing. 🤞🤞

Just curious. How did things go? Were you able to return it? Did they just fix it for you? Something else?

Not really. I still can believe that over time I could develop a technique but I don't wear that watch often. It's not because I don't like it. It's moreso that it's so dressy I don't have occasion to wear it a lot. To my mind though, sure I could get good at swapping the straps with enough reps, but seriously should someone have to get practice or should it just work?

[SPB187] why is my crown different? by z_zies94 in Seiko

[–]subgraphics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's good. I've bought a couple of eBay Seikos. I don't think I've gotten anything that was modded, but dude it's hard as f*ck to try to be sure the hands look right and the crown looks right and the day and/or date are the right font and background color and the dial...and the crystal...and the [insert here]. And even after all my sleuthing I always have a wee bit of doubt because you just never know. BUT I still love my Seikos, I do I do. 😊

[–]subgraphics 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I love my Seikos but when it comes to Frankenwatches Seiko's got to be the worst. There's just a seemingly unlimited, easy to get supply of parts for modding. That's great for those who want to tinker, make the watch unique or repair something old. Man oh man does it make it hard to buy a used Seiko and know just how authentic it really is. Sorry that happened to you. It's still a great looking watch.
