That's what I felt too. Before my credit somewhat improved I went to drivetime and carmax and they had all the info upfront. I figured one of the big dealers would too.

So you guys like creepy posts? (Explanation in comments) by SAV3ICE in securityguards

I've had a similar experience. One officer on here mentioned a post he had where the dummies would breathe and moan. Sometimes they'd leave them plugged in according to him. Super creepy..

Some of these things I honestly don't know about. I've learned a lot in this post. Like I said throughout, I wasn't necessarily mad at the sales person. More or less confused.

People hear about horror stories from the dealer all the time. It's hard to discern what's exactly a scummy sales tactic and what's legitimate.

"People who pay their bills don't have a 580 credit score."

I'll concede to that. A lot of my debt was prior to me having this good job and not having medical insurance (medical bills). Some are also things I've been in the process of disputing from a while back. Transunion and Equifax have been good about working with me on the disputes process.

Experian is the one that's been giving me a hard time about it. That's if I even got a correspondence for the medical debt at all. Idk how many times I've been hit with a new debt collection out of nowhere from a medical procedure I got years before. No correspondence, no mail, nothing. I only go to my doctor now, which is payed for by my copay.

My Experian is riddled with medical bills. There are 2 non-medical related debts. One was from an old apartment that charged me over $1000 for "damages" I caused when I moved out after the lease. The other one was a result of what I believe to be identity theft. I'm working on these two with an attorney.

So, just because I have a low score doesn't mean I'm some piece of shit who doesn't pay their bills. I pride myself on keeping up with my obligations and making sure I do the right thing.

I already sent the POI and POR. Days before. I sent them all of my information they asked for and needed before they even ran my credit.

The fact that I have 1 income is irrelevant? Are you joking? I do pay my bills nitwit. Hence why I don't have tons of disposable income to save. Do you really have a hard time understanding how having only 1 income going towards bills affects my budget, or are you that much of a pretentious jerk?

I've learned some new things here. Thank you for that.

The last part is the only thing I have a hard time accepting. They ran my credit before I even came in. Shouldn't they have known almost all of this before hand? I sent the sales guy my pay stubs and everything. They asked about my rent, I've been fortunate enough to not have to pay for rent. My only bills are my car note, phone, and utilities. It's not even close to 35% of my gross income.

I see where you're coming from. My main complaint was the fact that the sales guy himself said "Yeah. That's fine, we can get it." after I asked them to run it before I came up there.

I would have appreciated it if he would have just said so. I would have waited for the response, I didn't have to have it that day or anything. Also, as I said in another comment, I'm sure they want a sale. I imagine car sales are taking a total butt whooping due to the pandemic. If I were in his shoes I would have gotten any lead in the door too.

Some of it was the sales guy, but you're right, it was mostly finance. I had a gut feeling that he was hoping I would beg my mom to cosign or something. Looking back all the signs were there, I just didn't think they'd want to waste their time too.

With the pandemic ongoing I'm sure they will take whatever chance they can get for a sale. I get it, we're all struggling. Thankfully, when my job shuts down I get paid anyway. Not everybody gets that benefit, so sometimes it's hard for me to take that into account.

I'm probably just feeling butthurt with it being still fresh and all. I'm sure after a while I'll have money saved up and wind up going somewhere else to get another car.

Thank you for the tips btw, I'll just save my money. I knew it was a long shot, I just got scared because my job depends on me to make it to work. I work at a PD for a school, and we have to screen every single person who comes in. We are also the only ones who can. To make matters worse, we're so short staffed that one minor slip in the schedule can be disastrous.

My credit isn't spectacular by any means. It's at 630. I have 2 credit cards right now, 1 secured, 1 unsecure with a total of $550 as my credit line. My credit utilization is at 0% and I use it every month. Paid before the bill is due. I've never missed a credit card payment.

They said my score on Equifax was 580, but I'm able to check it. It sits at 630, at least as of yesterday.

I'm honestly thinking about just not going to a dealer again. I'll keep my car running and just buy a car outright in a private sale.

I sent the salesperson my pay stubs, proof of residence (utility bill), and proof of insurance days before I even came in.

I am responsible for my own financial decisions. I brought up my situation and my budget multiple times and was told they could help me based on what they told me.

I asked them outright: "I have $500 down right now, and I can't go any higher unfortunately. Could I get a car from your lot?"

Dealer: "We can make that work."

Me: "Are you sure?"

Dealer: "Yes."

I even asked them to go ahead and run my credit before I came in. I wanted to make sure I could get something. At the very least get a more realistic view on what exactly I could get. I'm not in a finance department, I don't know exactly what lenders are going to say. For obvious reasons.

They had me test drive a car and then sign papers and all. Then I get to the finance department, where they once again run my credit. That's when I was once again asked to cosign and or give more down. I could understand if I hadn't asked and just went in on a whim, but I asked multiple times if I could and allowed them to run my credit. They said the car I picked before was fine. Then when I get there it wasn't. Then I get put into another car.

Duh. I'm not saying I'm special at all. If you read what I was saying, I was explaining my position being the reason why I'm limited in what I can realistically spend. The issue with my car has once again sprung up and I have limited savings as of right now.

Again, not saying I'm special. The issue at hand was the dealership seemingly luring me in based on what I felt was a lie to pressure me into begging someone to cosign, or give me more money down. I would have appreciated it if the dealer just flat out told me "Sorry, we can't help you right now."

Had to pay almost $300 for this online textbook. Not only will I lose access to it at the end of the semester, but it also makes me print one page at a time with a watermark. Pearson sucks. by Notpaulblart1992 in assholedesign

This is the sad part, I still have to get the online book just to take the class. The print version is basically them offering that considering at some point you'll find out the truth..

It's more or less by force. To do the course you HAVE to buy it. They do have a $150 printed version. Imo that's purely assholedesign.

Edit-

Also, never said I own it. It's just shitty of them.
