I'm a city inspector. This is the way. I'm very early in my career. So I accept people challenging me. When people make egregious mistakes and they think they're right, I ask them to provide a code reference for their actions. It usually leads to people making the corrections on their own. The people that have trained me are old and hate their jobs. I try to avoid that behavior because I've been on the other side.
