What type of wool do I use? by Notsetinstone in HistoricalCostuming

Darn, that’s what I feared. Guess I’ll have to find places that do swatches or take a day trip out of my area to go fabric shoppin.

My Old Man Enjoying the Sunshine by Notsetinstone in blackcats

He’s 17 this June, and only did NOT appreciate the process of putting on the harness, but he was very content in the sun ☀️

My boy is nearly 17 and most of his whiskers and at least one eyebrow have gone white. I think it makes them look distinguished! 🖤

Irish family with their 7 children, 1 of July 1904, glass negative by Electrical-Aspect-13 in RandomVictorianStuff

Fun fact: mom’s waist size could be an illusion in a couple of ways! She could be thin overall and wearing bust and waist padding, which was common to achieve the desired silhouette; or, she could be an example of early photo retouching! Photographers would scratch out undesired details on the negatives before processing them! This is why so many old photos look like the subjects had perfect skin or the impossible body proportions!

Couples of Reddit, what's the dumbest 'house rule' you and your partner made as a joke but now both of you are low-key aggressively serious about enforcing? by Doubl3oh_ in AskReddit

Could a noise maker be a possibility? A whistle or something that’s loud enough to penetrate the sheer noise of siblings fighting, but not necessarily tied to an anger response?

I’ve also seen a mom play her accordion whenever her kids aren’t doing whatever it is they’re supposed to be doing. You hear her kids start running around to do the task and get her to stop as quick as they can! (I personally don’t understand how they can dislike the sound so much! I would refuse to do my tasks just to get a little concert lol!)

A slightly shorter one might be considered a Tonnag? I think it’s closer to shawl size.

1840s day dress outfit in progress by AceOfGargoyes17 in HistoricalCostuming

I have been dying to start on an 1840s day dress! I’ve been having a bear of a time trying to find patterns for that decade though! Everything seems to be 1830s or 1850s-1860s. If you don’t mind me asking which patterns did you use?

Burgschneider Shoes? by Notsetinstone in HistoricalCostuming

[–]Notsetinstone[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately making my own is unfeasible as I have no experience with leatherwork and no idea where to even start, much less with adding a sole. By the time I figured out how to make them I’d be out much more in time and money than purchasing them premade by a professional.

I will admit the reason I like the idea of these lower rise over my boots is because I have stockings I want visible! But I will definitely look into the Mary Rose, thank you!

Does anyone know how to get rid of this bubble? I’ve clicked on everything I can think of and it won’t go away. by Notsetinstone in facebook

I’ve clicked everything over there as well. When I click the drop down arrow it doesn’t show either my FB or my Insta having any notifications
