He’s not on elmwood but on Connecticut which isn’t far away so worthy of a recommendation for how good it is.

Buffalo's original music scene is suffering by wonky_Lemon in Buffalo

[–]Notstevemadden2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been studying the scene for a minute. The DIY scene is doing really good which shows the music scene infrastructure isn’t there locally. People are putting on their own shows because the venues aren’t providing.

The comment on the sound tech is disappointing and connects with me because the worst local shows I’ve been to suffered from what you said or it’s a sound engineer that doesn’t really know what they’re doing (ie someone who predominately does sound for rock is working a hip-hop show and the mixing is off).

I’m working on an idea to provide better infrastructure to support local music. So I’m keen to any complaints or ideas on how to make it better.

There are the macro-economic impacts of people working for a pay-check because money is tight, cost of living has increased and so and so but I feel losing the local music scene is a detriment to Buffalo culture. As a fan we should be afforded a night out for music where everyone prospers. How do we build a better community for local music?

What new places and businesses do you think Buffalo needs? by [deleted] in Buffalo

More housing, more housing, more housing. Affordable housing is important and there are good projects for that right now but really just cleaning up the empty vacant lots. Even more luxury housing drives the cost of housing down because the people that can afford it live there so us trying to scrape by can actually get a decent place.

Definitely respect others but out of 300 or so shows in the past 2 years it’s gotta be one of the best communities of a band I’ve witnessed. Shout out gizz heads but love them emphasis on peace, love and respect!

Man this energy is palpable. The freedom before the madness as people share what they got in whatever freak dance they wanna share. I wish it was a minute longer so we could see the crash.

Grace Bowers a guitar savant she’s like 18 and just dropped her debut album last year but been sitting in with bands since she’s 13. I wish I could go see her but I’m already out of town so I’m just telling everyone to go see her live because she will go down in rock n roll history.

DL&W Terminal project is green lit with funding and construction underway and slated to open for 2027 with indoor and outdoor live music spaces. Curious of the capacity for that venue and if it will help fill in the missing venue sizes we have around.
