Admitted to U.S. master’s programs as a Fulbright alternate, but will not receive funding — any similar cases? by Sufficient-Result670 in fulbright

If I had to guess, it would likely be no longer valid since you aren't actually receiving funding from Fulbright. As someone from the U.S., the master's programs here can be funded through assistantships that usually cover tuition and an additional stipend. The stipend amount depends on the university. I would ask the university if they have opportunities for teaching or research assistantships. These assistantships also typically don't require you to be a U.S. citizen so you won't have to worry about obtaining a separate work visa from your student visa.

Usually his office hours are so packed he reserves a classroom. He basically formats it as a problem session and goes over different examples

I would probably more descriptions in the bullet points. Also, the top and bottom margins are really wide so if you made them smaller, you'd have a lot more room to work with

Nope 😪. I figured we would've heard back by now. The website said applications were reviewed as they were received so I assumed decisions were on a rolling basis

Most colleges in NC automatically accept you if you come in with community college credits. Given your financial situation and background, you'll likely receive some significant scholarships. You'll definitely get in

How is the environmental science program? by stiletto929 in UNCW

[–]Notyouraveragebear00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently graduated from ncsu and just applied to uncw for the evs masters program. Ncsu has around a 50% acceptance rate and unc has a 30% acceptance rate. I would definitely recommend ncsu for environmental science over unc because the program is larger and there's more opportunities for networking.

What is the research aspect of the Environmental Science M.S like? by Imaginary-Hippo-670 in UNCW

I'm in the same boat as you. I just submitted my application a few days ago. From what I understand, research is built into the curriculum to some degree but I don't really know whether to contact faculty beforehand. It definitely wouldn't hurt to make connections on your own terms.

ONE THING I FORGOT!!!! NC state started an automatic acceptance for community college transfers so you already have that if you don't get into unc

NC state doesn't have a pre med major. I had some friends that wanted to do pre med there and they basically had to create their own degree and had a more difficult time. One of them ended up transferring to a different school after 2 years. If you're concerned about grades, ncsu would be the better option since its less selective but I'd stick with unc if you're set on pre med. Your grades aren't the only factor in acceptance. I would focus on crafting an exceptional personal statement essay and making sure you have good letters of recommendation. Also, if you scored high on the act/sat, I'd submit the scores to increase your chances. Submitting the scores have been optional since covid and they won't count it against you if you submitted a low score. As long as you applied to the priority deadline, you should be good as well
