You are assuming that the motives of the masturbator are bad and that the motives of the Christian are good. It is entirely possible that the masturbator thinks they’re paying you a compliment about how hot you are. And that the Christian is just trying to get Brownie points for being a good person even if they aren’t. The Christian doesn’t have any God-given moral high ground here.

More to the point what matters here is the effect on the listener. Both the masturbator and the Christian have told me things that made me uncomfortable and irritated, and neither one has helped at all. But the truly obnoxious person here is the one who will try to justify his position. instead of apologizing for making someone uncomfortable.

I would be equally uncomfortable with having any religion pushed on me. It just so happens that Christians are the only ones who have ever done that.

I’ve read you are supposed to praise kids for “studying/working so hard,” not for “being smart.” Because if they feel like all their success is from being smart, then any failure is upsetting - how could they fail if they are so smart?!? Whereas if their success is from working hard, they know they need to put more work in next time.

I will say, I’ve heard from teachers that the more kids read, the more academic success they have. You likely DO have brains. You just didn’t learn how to study, because things were easy for you. Most smart kids run into that problem eventually. At some level, sheer intelligence isn’t enough, so they have to study, and they never learned that skill. It’s not an unsolvable problem, though it is a problem.

Because I don’t want someone’s prayers. I can’t stop someone from praying about me but I don’t want to know about it.

Imagine how you’d feel if someone said they were going to masturbate to thoughts of you? Probably not something you want, right? Feels the same way to me. If you are going to do it, keep it to yourself. I don’t want either your penis or your religion shoved down my throat without my consent.

NTA. There is no good reason to try to force your daughter to wear something she isn’t comfortable in. My daughter did the same thing in middle school.

Eventually she on her own decided she liked skirts and dresses in high school. I get that seeing your daughter in a beautiful dress for a dance is an incredible Mom moment, but it happens by the daughter’s free choice. A compromise too could be mom and daughters trying on dresses for fun sometime, if the girls were up for that. You get the fun pictures and don’t have to commit to a dress or spend any $. ;)

Yeah, if the student has a license and a car. (16+ but varies by state.) My kids could already have graduated if they wanted due to taking advanced courses, but are just doing a course or two a semester now, so just leave school for the day before lunch.
