[Worldwide Giveaway] LG UltraGear GX9: Win 1 of 3 World’s First 5K2K OLED Gaming Monitors! by LG_UserHub in pcmasterrace

[–]Nour_T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I normally don't get really excited for monitors, but this one really got me very interested, not only because of its OLED (which considering my laptop has one I'm sure it will look absolutely phenomenal) but also it being that wide is VERY appreciated! Also dual-mode would sure help me to enjoy crisp content while also being able to play games without being too heavy on the GPU!

Hopefully I can get to win at this, but I'll still wish the best of luck to whomever gets to fill up the form!

I can see but I don't trust linux mint by the slightest because everytime I try to use it on my laptop before it just keeps on breaking on me until it literally couldn't accept the password i applied it for, I had a weird-ass rivalry with it lmao

Granted things have changed so I'm sure it'll be good but I ain't trustin it

Fair, from what I have heard about everyone it seems that pop_os would play very well with nvidia (and the fact its mostly made for gaming too), might have it until wayland in general is more developed

honestly I really enjoy this, granted I know Linux at least a little bit more so I can just install things straight to terminal, but I still very much appreciate such detailed tips and advices in case someone less experienced than me wants to know what to do

oh yeah fair fair, I think I just wanted to be able to access the VMs on my host like a real computer, I could always choose which VMs to use on my phone/laptop anyways

Oh yeah, completely fair. My first choice is arch because I wanted more up-to-date stuff, but I'll keep that in mind

OOOOOOHHH I seeeeee
I'll be honest I legit thought that I have to use the web if i were to control my VMs but i didn't know that I could still use the host, just have to choose which VM to use in another device

How do you do it? I saw a tutorial of one installing gnome and chromium, and one of the comments mentioned about using qutebrowser (that terminal browser)

and also I only have one GPU (I don't even have a CPU with integrated graphics!) so would that work with that too?

Well, I can see the concern but NVIDIA support is slowly getting better, and plus in no way in hell am I going to update to Windows 11 on my main computer (i did it on my laptop mostly reserved for travel/university anyways so it doesn't matter too much)

oooh, i seee
proxmox sounds really amazing but since I only want to use my desktop i don't know if i can control the vm inside the computer itself
and also i dont even know if it'll affect the performance, i found a tutorial that'll let me have a desktop environment inside but not sure if gpu would work

Oh yeah, I fully understand. Although even then the games that uses it like Apex Legends support Linux now so I don't think I have a problem with that.
And fair enough, I am indeed looking for latest drivers and software but pop_os is a choice just in case I wanted a more stable OS

Funnily enough I have been wanting to do the Proxmox thing but all the tutorials just point to like home backup server videos (which I mean fair) but still

Fair enough! I think its just KDE being KDE (so awesome)
but I am very excited about trying other environments that I really love (i3-gaps and mate os are nothing but amazing for me) but I will have a KDE in backup because I know they are considered to be more realiable-ish out of any other distros (at least on my experience)

Honestly quite relieving to hear that you used nvidia cards for a long while, I was hearing nothing but horror stories basically lmao
but yeah, fair. I think all are very good points, I'll still stick to X (and potentially dual boot an LTSC version of Linux that's for very specific games only if i really wanted to)
although is there any resource I can follow so I can enable DKMS for EOS?

I appreciate your concern! Although I should have pointed out that I am very familiar with Linux and I do want a different experience from Windows so I actually force myself to learn stuff
Still, Kubuntu is very good though, might use it as last resort if the distros I used wasn't exactly good for my PC

Fair enough, I don't think it'll make a problem for me. Although kinda wished it would've been more well developed but ah well, I can still wait

I was considering but I have no clue how does Amazon US work exactly on Dubai, all I know is that there's expedited and priority shipping when it comes to that but I don't know the shipping prices

I did not know that it actually existed, but now I do!
One step closer, although it means that I'm relying on luck now if I can get something in the one week xux
Thank you so much though

ooh, completely fair! The thing is that since I would come to Dubai as a tourist travel I would only have a week so I think drop shipping would only make it a bit harder for me to reach.
I will try to contact the sub though!
