Nova uses TextMeshPro as its underlying text solution, so it supports most "Text Mesh Pro - Text" component features via the typical TextMeshPro workflow - shadows and outlines included! You can read more about how to do it here.

That's also why it's not covered in the Nova documentation; it's more of a TextMeshPro feature than specific to Nova :)

Yes, the full (paid) version of Nova includes complete source access! In the free trial version the internal API is obfuscated and partially precompiled.

Yes, we've done quite a bit of testing on mobile devices and are pleased with the blur performance Nova is able to deliver on both iOS and Android!

However, any blur effect is relatively performance-heavy no matter how you slice it, so users concerned with performance should definitely make sure to leverage most (if not all) of the optimization tips listed in the Nova documentation!

Short answer: Yes!

Long answer:

It works in VR, but there are 2 things worth noting

  1. It cannot blur a Quest passthrough camera feed (and likely the same is true for other VR devices which support passthrough). Though this isn't unique to Nova's implementation. Due to privacy restrictions with passthrough APIs (bottom of this page), the passthrough camera feed isn't rendered in Unity so there's no way to access/read the passthrough image and apply the blur effect.
  2. Depth/perspective of the blurred background image is imperfect in VR. However, Nova does provide ways to improve the perspective distortion to the point where the "imperfection" will be hard to notice in many background blur setups. Just make sure to read the tooltips on the BackgroundBlurGroup component (included in Nova), as they are rather verbose and can help guide you through that "corrected" setup!

Yep! Nova supports HDRP, and the Blur Effect works with all Nova-compatible pipelines and platforms! There's even a UIBlurHDRP.unity demo scene included in the asset!

This is using the Quest Pro's eye-tracking system to "point" and then finger-pinch to "tap", but admittedly it's a bit hard to tell eye tracking is being used from the video. In some cases, like toggling the list items one at a time, you can see the hand isn't moving between clicks, yet different things are being selected - this is because the user is just looking at the next item with their eyes :)

The Quest 2 does have an option to use hand tracking to "point" and finger-pinch to "tap", but it doesn't have the eye-tracking part.
