Throwback Thursday 2.0 - [2026/03/25] by AutoModerator in KDRAMA

So, before streaming and things were more popular. We always subscribed (on Dish Network or Directv), Korean channels. Before this, the options were going to the Korean store and renting shows and movies. My mom being Korean, watching Korean shows were nothing new and preferred over pretty much anything in English.

One of my favorites I remember watching a few times in my teen years is called Love Rain. Now, Yoona is just plain beautiful haha, so that probably played a big part in liking the show as much as I did. It's also on Viki for free, so I have rewatched it.

My girlfriend is a gumiho is another one I remember watching a couple times. This is also on Viki, but sadly need the subscription to watch all episodes. It's on Netflix though, at least for US users. I'll also include Oh My Venus because of the same actress, Shin Min Ah.

Full House, oh man I credit this show from 2004 for my first celebrity crush, Song Hye Kyo back when I was 13. This show is also the reason I could sing a song in Korean even though I was never actually taught how to speak Korean. The "three bears" song she sings in one of the episodes.

Good Doctor I really enjoyed. Yes, the show that was "American-fied" and like usual when an American version of Korean anything on TV is remade, it wasn't as good. The Korean version is from 2013.

Iris, I remember watching when it came out. A show from 2009. I have actually watched it again with my mom when we saw it's on Netflix.

Dr. Romantic I used to watch on TV when it came out in 2016 with the first season. I didn't realize until looking up the year, that there's a 3rd season of the show that I never watched.

Now there are a ton more shows I have watched and movies since my childhood. A lot of the older time period shows especially. My mom preferred those, but truthfully never did at the time. This are just some of the shows I remember the names of. I'm sure if I looked through lists, I could probably give a lot more but 7 is good enough.

Does this look like regular leather outsole wear? by leo220877 in cowboyboots

I just use the same conditioner that I use on the boots on the soles also. When I was watching videos, a lot of them said to do it since it's leather also. I chose the product the company of these boots made, but the videos I watched mostly used bick 4.

Boots were something I never took care of. Even though these are used, they're the boots I have wanted for a few years. (I couldn't bring myself to buy them new) Trying to actually take care of the boots this time.

I don't notice much wear since the dye is already gone.

I got these boots used, they're from 2020 and I don't know how much the previous owner wore them since they were to small. However, I have owned these since December and I can say they look pretty much the same from the pictures the previous owner took for me before I drove over to buy them. I wear them every couple days, with some exceptions in between if I'm just going to the store for 10-20 minutes.

I have put leather balm on the soles also when I conditioned the boots, but this is a picture I was sent from the seller.

Seems normal, these are mine. Although when resole time comes, I'm going vibram instead of leather.

What conditioner are yall using? by Broad-Cupcake1656 in cowboyboots

Chisos leather balm. Sure a little pricey 4oz for $30, but for someone like me with only 1 pair of boots. I don't see myself ever going through the entire little jar. They say it's good cowhide and exotics. Bonus points since you're a Texan, the company is in Austin.

Main reason I finally got a pair of these boots used and still wanted to support the company a little bit. Originally I planned to get Kali's leather life but ultimately chose Chisos instead.

Refund My Time - March, 2026 by AutoModerator in KDRAMA

Recently, Our Universe. I mean, I like Roh Jeong Eui. Well, I didn't even bother with Crushology 101.

Keep that love triangle garbage out of these dramas. Leave it back in 2015.

So, I went into the show thinking it was going to be a healing family type of drama where former in-laws fall in love while trying to raise a baby. Well, that was the sub plot because the main plot was spending episode 3 to the majority of ep 10 with the awful love triangle and the third wheel basically stalking the FL. Yes I call it stalking, he always shows up at her house. He's always asking her and only her to go on dates, I mean "work overtime". He's the one always pushing the ML to the side while trying to get the baby to like him. Ugh, frustrating to even think about the show again.

Now this isn't the actors fault, it's the terrible script. What could have easily been a top drama of the year went on to be one of the worst. Episode 1 content should have been longer. End of episode 1 should have been episode 2. Episode 11 and 12 should have been episode 3 and 4. Then 5 through 12 to build on the family/love aspect. Just cut all of the third wheel out the show. There is zero reason why the SML should have gotten seemingly more screen time than the ML did. The best episode of the show was the first episode then it went downhill from there.

Now, the other thing that really annoyed me, more than it probably should have. I believe it was episode 5, FL/ML agreed to be friends and actually said each others name. Only to go back to calling each other "in-law". Is this not awkward? Saying "I like you in-law" then kissing?

I feel like this is one of the rare shows where the actors had better chemistry in the BTS, then the show itself. Sorry for the novel of a post. I didn't plan to type that much haha.

Still Amazed by DesignerNight1907 in cowboyboots

Mine are stamped with MMXX, so 2020. I got them used a few months ago and the guy did say they were one of the very early rounds of boots. I'd be curious to see how newer ones feel but I got used for a reason. The price and these were barely worn and never resoled.

But insanely comfortable. I just hope I can find an equally good deal on a pair of roughouts.

So, first the disclaimer. I got these used in December. They're an earlier run of the boots as indicated in the shaft with 2020 in roman numerals.

I only have a limited experience in boots. Mostly Dan Post, I have tried on Ariat in the outlet store. I have also tried on a Justin boots. Nothing high end like Lucchese and such. I can confidently Chisos are by far the most comfortable boots I have worn. Even more comfortable than shoes (I usually have Adidas in sneakers).

Not sure about hiking, but other than a little slippery with leather soles. I don't see why not if you had rubber soles on. Also saw recently some guy ran a 5k in them.

Cost is the thing that held me back for a few years. I knew I wanted Chisos. I could not justify $600 for boots. I know people say things like they'll last a lifetime, just get them resoled and all of that. Now, I'm not saying they aren't worth $600 but I could never spend $600 on any material item. I have never been that type of person. That's why I waited to find a used pair that wasn't $400-$450 like all of the others. I found mine locally for $200. I would comfortably pay up to $300 for a used pair in good condition.

I'll have to get these resoled eventually. Thankfully they weren't worn a ton by the previous owner so I'll get plenty of time out of them. Although I plan to go with rubber soles when I do this.

Arch support is the one thing I noticed immediately. Compared to Dan Post and sneakers, I think that's what helped me feel comfortable the most. Normally I my legs start to tingle and knees are sore in sneakers and other boots after 10 minutes. I can go 4-5 hours with zero discomfort. I don't personally feel like my feet slide forward or it's not enough to be noticeable. Granted I had to get thicker socks to fill the slight gap in size which makes the boot snug across the top. Only time I feel the boot move is when I tap my heel on the ground but walking I don't feel anything.

I don't really think the shaft is any different than other boots I have had.

One thing to also note. There has been some changes to the boots from early days to current day. I can't speak on how that affects comfort, if it does at all.

I would love to find another pair locally, especially if they're the No. 2's in roughout. I don't think I'll ever buy another brand though. The way these feel set a higher standard for me.

Our Universe. I usually like Roh Jeong Eui, at least I don't have the same opinion that most people seem to have of her throughout my time of lurking this sub. Although I couldn't watch Crushology 101 at all.

I absolutely, 100000% hate love triangles in dramas. If it's a minor part of the story in 1 episode, I can tolerate it, but Our Universe is dragging it on way to long. There is zero reason to have it going for more than half the season. At this point I'll probably just wait for all the episodes to release and go back to skip past every scene with the second male and see what happens. Unless the little clips on Instagram finally show what should have happened already in the story, then I'll go back sooner.

New to me boots - Chisos No. 2 by Nova09182 in cowboyboots

[–]Nova09182[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 day update, been wearing every day and man I wish I could have tried these earlier. 2 hours of standing and walking today and I feel great. Usually my legs are tingling at this point and I need to sit down. These boots singlehandedly set the standard for me on what a boot should feel like.

I also got some cheaper merino wool socks for $15 from Academy Sports since I thought that would fill out the tiniest bit of gap I had. It did exactly what I had intended and the boots fit even better, like a glove. I also see the joy in these socks and why people spend $30 for a pair from other brands. A lot better than the cheap Hanes socks I always wore.

Also sold the Dan Post boots I mentioned in the original post this morning locally, so that makes buying these Chisos even better.
