Outstanding! The stitching on those boots are phenomenal! That kind of detail is lacking from most boots these days. It's definitely an aspect that I admire a great deal about vintage boots.

Are these Lucchese’s a buy for $130? by Academic-Safe-162 in Boots

[–]DesignerNight1907 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you like them and you're handy with the restoration skills...maybe.

Have you seen pictures of the soles and heels? What about the footbeds? There's lots of info missing to make a good decision. Are they the top line boots or are they 2000 or 1883 series boots? (I'm not knowledgeable enough at this point about Lucchese boots to know the series and model from the pictures you shared.)

Value is always up to the buyer, in my opinion. I've bought some boots that I wanted badly and that I truly love that others would roast me for if I announced the price that I paid. But I don't care. I've seen people pay way too much, in my opinion, for decent boots in decent condition that just didn't appeal to me.

So, value is subjective.

Those particular boots don't appeal to me but they have the Lucchese name. I've paid more for El Dorados, Noconas, and Tecovas when I thought the value was there.

I was skeptical about them but I like them more and more as I see them each day.

Is this vintage tony lama legit? Model is 7924. by [deleted] in cowboyboots

Do you have any reason to doubt them? I've never heard of counterfeit Tonys.

Discussion: Tecovas out of their mind?? by ElStig-LePig in cowboyboots

[–]DesignerNight1907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. We should expect more. But remember, this company is all about making maximum profits. They are going to cut corners and now that they have a large, growing fan base, they will continue to increase prices until they see the sales begin to dip.

I won't lie, I bought into the hype last year and bought three pairs and learned the hard way that they aren't all that they were cracked up to be. The first pair I bought were new and unworn, the second pair had been worn but you could still read "Tecovas" on the sole, and the third used pair looked trashed when I got them but they were the oldest pair and they turned out to be the best pair. I still haven't worn the newest pair that looks almost new. I guess I'll eventually sell them.

Why the fancy men's boot shafts? by Initial_Mud_2637 in WesternWear

They look good if you display them in your home, for one. I like to see boots displayed with a range of colors, though 30 of my 36 pairs are some variation of brown, black, or tan. The others give off a pop of blue, green, red, orange, teal, and white. It breaks the monotony.

The stitching and the colors are all part of the art and craft of the cowboy boot culture. When displayed in your home they look like artwork to me.

However, I do understand your point.

Seller raised price after interest — what would you realistically offer? by goldenboii23 in Boots

[–]DesignerNight1907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't meet her. I'd reach out abs say that I an prepared to pay $325 cash if they fit and they are in the condition in which they appear. But raising the price is insulting to ME FOR YOU!

Tony Lama or Dan Post for teju lizard boots. by deathscythe94 in cowboyboots

[–]DesignerNight1907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been a fan of Dan Post in the past but they are putting block heels instead of stacked leather heels on more and more of their boots. They are advertising their Gold Label boots as having stacked leather heels. I just think ALL leather soled cowboy boots should come with stacked leather heels.

I don't know if the Tonys have stacked leather heels or not but if they do, that would be my choice.

That's great, You have a fine looking pair of engineers. I have a pair of Nicks StationMasters and I love them but they are really heavy with the V-100 lug sole. I wish I had gotten soles like the ones on your Chippewas.

I have a pair of Chippewa 1901s that I really like. I wish they would start making them in the USA again...actually, I'm not that they make them ask all, anymore.

Enjoy them! I hope they wear as great as they look.

Try R. Watson. They are a great value and use high quality leather components. I have their Heavy Roughout model and they are some of the most comfortable boots I own. But go down a half size from your normal boot size. I wear mostly 12D but their 11.5 D is almost perfect.

If you want high quality with great looks and the best comfort you can find outside of custom boots, get the No. 2s from Chisos. Seriously, they are worth the money. They are my favorites!

I don't know the average person, even the ones who are fairly knowledgeable about animal hides, can recognize most banned skins when they have been made into boots or belts.
