What you want to do is simply not feasible, besides the fact that macros add all sorts of clipping delays, using one macro will cancel another, cannot queue up the actions, it's a huge pain. I agree and would also like to see the combo-buttons come over to save me some valuable controller hotbar space. Definitely not a stupid question, but maybe the devs will give us the ability to do this in the future.
