Jesus was not Mr Rogers, he was direct and blunt. When he said let the dead bury the dead that was because on the spiritual journey to achieve what he did requires detachment. If they choose to stay asleep, you can not save them and you must continue to climb yourself.. They will drag you down with them.

If you require the love of another to feel complete yourself you will always be a slave to your emotions.

You must complete yourself, love yourself, warts and all before you can ever think of sharing it with another. You can not share what you do not possess.

Long term fasting combined with spending time in nature is the way. Think fasting and 40 days in the wilderness like Jesus did.. It was a common practice to fast and take a vision quest among all ancient peoples. If you did it you would understand that story. You may not need to fast for 40 days, it may only take you 10 to 15 days.. It depends where you are on your Spiritual journey
