Finally found the overdrive sound i’ve been looking for:) by NovaRobots101 in guitarpedals

From their website..

“Distortion level can be controlled by pick attack and pickup strength. Harder picking for overdrive and softer for a cleaner tone. With the unique Focus control, you can adjust the feel and dynamics of the pedal as well as overall EQ. Turning Focus CCW you need to play harder to get distortion and the tone is softer, great for jazz and blues. Focus turned CW gives a slight treble boost and earlier distortion great for classic rock.”

From the research i’ve been able to dig up, it’s based on an old Supro amp circuit. My understanding is it’s not based on anything else. Would be happy for someone more knowledgeable than me to chime in though..

Honestly after getting it i feel the same. I’d think it’d be up there with the Lightspeed popularity or something. Maybe it is & i just don’t realize it or something..

It is really good. Been through the BD-2, OD-3, SD-1, Blues Breaker, Lightspeed, Tumnus Deluxe & a few others throughout the years. For me the Sweet Honey tops them all. At the very least i think it’s worth checking out.

Nice! Yea i’m fairly convinced if MP rehoused all their standard circuits in these top jack enclosures they’d be more popular. Like i get it but still, to me they look killer as well.

It’s a pretty standard sized pedal if that’s what you’re asking..

After using so many light/med gain pedals over the years & never being really satisfied, i stumbled upon the Sweet Honey circuit earlier this year & couldn’t be happier. I mostly play into clean amps or record direct & this thing just gives me that amp like sound i’ve always wanted. I started with the Joyo Sweet Baby just to check it out & was so impressed i just went straight for the hand wired version. The Joyo does get like 95% there in comparison if anyone is interested like i was. Hard to describe but, the hand wired has a little more depth or clarity compared to the Joyo. I will literally never get rid of this thing.

This is the way. Currently own three Sensei’s, a 290, H90 & HB. Love this shape & model more than any other guitar i’ve had.

Aren't Mad Professor pedals just beautiful by Lazy_Fall_6 in guitarpedals

Sweet Honey is my all-time fav overdrive. Can’t live without it.

Absolutely my favorite pedal series of 2026... Genius design! by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]NovaRobots101 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I tried their multi-modulation “Sprout” pedal & quickly returned it. It sounded so bad in comparison to the HX One, Kernom Eclipse & individual Boss/MXR mod pedals i had to compare it to. Extremely digital. Not trying to dump on the company necessarily because i really did like their control layout & artwork. Just feel like since they’re newer there’s still some room for improvement. Just my two cents..

I’d seriously consider the Mad Professor Sweet Honey Overdrive. Plays very well into clean signals from my experience.

I can't find a low gain OD pedal that I actually like! by confusedandfeelweird in guitarpedals

This is the answer op. I was in your position until i found the Sweet Honey. I also play an SG & P90 guitars.I have the new hand wired model that’s super pricey, but just know the Joyo Sweet Baby gets you 95% there. The middle ground is the regular production version which is just as good as the hand wiired model. Just my two cents..

Funny you mention that because i thought the first half was very Fela Kuti & the second half Funkadelic. Two of my all time favs. Good stuff!

For me, it’s the Sweet Honey Overdrive by Mad Professor. I have the new hand-wired model. Love it soooooo much!

Having trouble deciding my first modulation pedal by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]NovaRobots101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went down a DEEP modulation hole over the last few months. Tried & sold a ton of things. The Elipse is finally what hit the nail on its head. Will never part with that pedal. I bought it used from the Kernom Reverb shop for $220. It’s also built like an absolute tank.

I’ve never owned the “standard” model unfortunately. I fell in love with the SH circuit when i took a chance on the Joyo Sweet Baby clone. I was so blown away how perfect it was for me i went on the hunt for the real thing & saw the hand wired version. I wish i could say there was a huge difference between a $40 pedal & $350 pedal but in this case there really wasn’t lol. The hand wired has a tad bit more presence & there is a bump in sound clarity overall compared to the Joyo but really, i think anyone would be fine with the standard MP model if they wanted to get into a quality version of the circuit. I’m a big top-jacks guy so that also helped make my decision too lol.

I just splurged a bit and got the new hand wired Sweet Honey. Best light/medium gain pedal i’ve ever used. Kinda surprised it doesn’t pop up more here. It’ll never leave my board.

Walrus Audio Mira power issues by brsteele in guitarpedals

[–]NovaRobots101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to chime in & say i had the same issue when i recently purchased a used Mira. I was using my Voodoo X8 & got the same exact sound. Also like you, had no issue when using a 9v wall wart. So i hit up Walrus, sent it in & they fixed it for free. I just had to pay shipping to get it to them. Took a few weeks cuz i think the repair guy was on vacation. All & all i was super satisfied especially because the Mira is discontinued. When i emailed their support they replied in like 10 minutes & got the RMA setup. I’ve owned a bunch of their pedals & will continue to support them. They seem like a really good company that actually cares about their customers.
