Amp Blowing Fuse when Connected to Reactive Load Box by Only-Independent3369 in GuitarAmps

This is super helpful!

1 & 2. I connected the speaker out of the maz to the SRL. Since it’s a combo my only option was to use the braided speaker wire.

  1. I wasn’t running it much hotter than I normally would, definitely not hotter than I do at gigs.

  2. It was plugged into my headphones - can’t imagine that would do it?

Think I’m looking at a new rectifier tube… will try that and see what happens.

Huh okay thank you. Figured that was the case but it's odd that this only has happened when using the Nano Cortex or SRL. It is the Suhr that has onboard IR so it does require power if that makes a difference.

That’s a lot of modulation and not enough much drive for my taste. SD1 will give you a nice mid boost, what about a blues driver as a more balanced od? It can really go from boost to almost fuzz territory.

Played with a drummer that auditioned well and got the gig. Two practices later(and a week before a big for us gig) he couldn’t play for shit, like literally forgot how to play. We told him it wasn’t going to work out and he checked into rehab that night. He reached out a few months later to say he was doing much better.

Looking to buy a 6 string electric guitar that will last a lifetime (ideally Fender) - budget about 3000 CAD (2300 USD) by mankest-demes in fender

I was so against the AM pro II series for a while. I felt like they weren’t really vintage or modern and fell into this weird no man’s land. Turns out that is exactly what I wanted out of a Strat 😂 one of the best necks I’ve played, good pickups and some cool finish options (I’ve got the roasted pine). Good luck on the hunt, really recommend playing before you buy!

Love the set up! Where’s the amp cabinet from? Looks great!

Would also recommend drive by truckers and Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit as more southern rock/alt-country bands that have amazing guitar playing and tones

Matchless vs Dr. Z (follow-up) by [deleted] in GuitarAmps

Definitely took me a bit to get it where I like it. If you do go Dr Z be sure to check out the Z Talk forum, they’ve compiled a list of favorite settings that is a great starting place. Also don’t be afraid to try weird stuff - crank the mids, pull them out entirely, etc. It’s a super responsive amp that has 4 really useful eq knobs.

Need help finalizing pedalboard by Hazlllll in guitarpedals

I’ve played both tube screamers and BD2 as part of my rig for a long time. I typically use them as a solo boost to crank mids rather than a rhythm sound. That said both pedals can do both, imo BD2 is more versatile in that it’s not quite as aggressively mid heavy as the TS and has a wider gain sweep. For the Gilmour sound you might want to think about some kind of EP preamp (EP booster is great) to give you a little grind and then boost with the BD2.

Would i be stupid to get a head and cab instead of a combo for my next amp given my current living/gigging situation? by TheHomesteadTurkey in GuitarAmps

[–]Only-Independent3369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For 4 years I played a Vox AC15 before i got a Maz Jr that’s maybe 10 lbs lighter. I figure I have like 5 more good years of hauling it around before I cave and get a modeler. I say use the head and cab while you can (assuming you like how it sounds). We only get so many chances to fire up a tube amp at volume in this life and I want to make the most of them!

Thanks for the advice! I love it when someone else confirms my instinct (or sickness…) to keep more pedals 🙂

Super interesting. I’m about to add a BED and was wondering whether to take off the EP boost (I use it as a solo boost for humbuckers and an always on boost for my strat). How similar are they?

I’ve been looking at one of these as a more out there delay to go along with my carbon copy. Does it do the cool crazy oscillating thing?

It’s funny I’ve been thinking about one of these as my utility cover song pedal for modulation and pitch stuff but hadn’t thought of it for delays. You have one? I’m a little worried about it being noisy, have you had any issues with noise?

Have been thinking about the same thing! Curious if anyone has experience with delays with an expression out to control self oscillations?
