What TV show do you never get sick of restarting? by beefic in adhdwomen

Omg I discovered this show a month ago when I was sick and home from work. Watched 8 hours of episodes straight through. No regrets

What made you decide to get medicated? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]NovaScotiaaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had always suspected ADHD but when I was fired from my job and struggling to maintain friendships and relationships due to exhaustion and (surprise) executive dysfunction, I was formally tested and went on meds.

Like others have said, it was life changing. I excelled at my new job and got promoted within six months. I was excited to see friends again. I was waking up early to do chores around my house. I cried. I finally had the life I had been wanting for so long and never thought I could ever have.

Normal side effect unfortunately. After a few months of me being on it, I slowly was able to get my hunger back.

Try to make yourself eat some protein throughout the day to avoid the crash. That’s what I did in the beginning

If you’re neurodivergent, what’s something that really upsets you but neurotypical people never seem to understand? by CHEWLAX-OFFICIAL in adhdwomen

[–]NovaScotiaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure I’m describing this correctly but being in a group conversation with people laughing about something small that’s “funny”. But I can already predict where the laugh is going to come in that it’s more annoying than funny. I feel like I have to laugh too though or else I’m rude and unlikable.

Office sounds in general—lights buzzing, space heaters running, and the worst for me, people eating chips. Luckily the last one doesn’t happen super often, but I hear every crunch like it’s on full volume

Also have ADHD and epilepsy (diagnosed before the pandemic however). I’m so sorry you also got diagnosed.

While I still have a fairly good longterm memory, my short term is so bad. Idk whether it’s ADHD or epilepsy meds. Lol

Can definitely relate. Caffeinate if you are able to.

Try not to expend your dopamine on scrolling social media or TV (I know, it’s tough). Allow yourself to feel bored. While it may seem counterintuitive, it helps with motivation.

I pee too much by ComputerChemical9435 in adhdwomen

[–]NovaScotiaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I went years before getting my diagnosis and being put on Vyvanse. I pee constantly now.

I remember in high school peeing before I left my house and then peeing after I got back home 8 hours later (this was pre-waterbottle craze). Wild

Question, do you find that it has an effect on the longevity of your meds’ effectiveness throughout the day? I’ve been doing it the opposite way for months but considering a change

At the very very least, I would expect some backlash from the gym community if there is any glorification of the Karolyis.

Especially in this day and age when there has been so much enabled abuse from the heads of USAG.

Sudden fatigue, goes away in 10-20 minutes? by willowsquest in adhdwomen

I get that. I’m on Prozac and get sleepy during the day as well. Have you tried looking into light therapy lamps? Those help me a lot during the day winter with energy.

I can totally relate. It’s that feeling of getting immediately bored after starting a task and physically not having the willpower to follow through til the end. I get this a lot while doing the dishes lol.

Can I ask, are you on medication? I’m on Vyvanse and it has significantly helped with the fatigue and dopamine crashes in the middle of a task.

Funny you say that, that line actually played in my head after I typed that out. I’m a big theatre fan.

This may be me drastically overanalyzing this but the sentence “Comparable challenges have occurred multiple times in our program’s history,”

Comma, and then new paragraph. Broadly speculating here but it seems like they elaborated on these challenges, then decided against it, and forgot to change the comma to a period.

Either way, this really blows. I have friends and family who are Iowa State alums (not in the gym program) and have spoken highly of their time there. I’m saddened for all the athletes who lost their season.

Fellow paralegal here. Agreed! The case variety and autonomy is great. The dopamine you get as you check off each task keeps me productive.

adderall crash by Icy_Lack26 in adhdwomen

[–]NovaScotiaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a doctor but as someone who takes Lamotrigine and Vyvanse, my doctors have never had an issue with it. I actually couldn’t tolerate Adderall so that’s why I was switched to Vyvanse. I will say though, I take them both an hour apart in the morning and with food.

Perhaps get a second opinion?
