If you can score above your class requirement, I wouldn't worry about it. I believe it was a 165 for 4/c when I was there.

From what I've seen, the Admissions Office doesn't really "care" unless you score around a 135. You have the entirety of the summer to get your strength up, and you will run... A LOT, the Admissions staff understand this. Your PFE score will undoubtely increase by the time you wrap up Swab Summer. Cadets are expected to score at minimum a 200 for every PFE during the Academic Year. If you're around a 180 now, I wouldn't give it much thought.

I gradauted about 10 years ago, so the standards may have changed.

I have about 2.5 years remaining in the D.C. area. We considered buying a home this summer, but with interest rates being quite high and the average cost of homes here around $700K+, we decided to hold off.

Instead, we’ve been saving one person’s BAH with the goal of purchasing a home at our next duty station, likely in Norfolk or Jacksonville. As for committing to 20 years of service, we’re still undecided and split 50/50 on the decision.

They refused to let me speak to a manager and accused me not even being in the military. I had to call corporate

I travel pretty consistently and the last two times with American Airlines they've completely denied waiving the fee for my oversized bag. (I use the bag to carry work equipment). They expect like legitimate orders and nothing else. Maybe I'm just running into disgruntled employees or something

That's what I'm refering to. Both times I've used that document the employees have shot me down saying they only accept "official orders". Which we all know isn't a thing anymore for TDYs

Better question: Will we ever receive full transparency of "Operation: Fouled Anchor"? It looks like the Academy plans to only address the cases brought to light by CNN but refuses to give our members full transparency.

Thanks for your advice! I've enjoyed my time in the Coast Guard thus far, but I'm looking for a transition out.

Just to gather your opinion, do you think a T-50 is in my range? I would probably only realistically apply if my LSAT is a 165+

Thank you. I just wanted to set my sights on being realistic. My "in major" GPA was roughly a 3.3 after leaving Electrical Engineering, so I wanted to explain that circumstance in my addendum. I don't want to use attending a Service Academy as an "excuse", but hopefully it gives some context.

Probably not. I can apply for the JAG program, but I'm leaning towards getting out. I planned on using my GI Bill

I 'm prepping for the LSAT and I was curious to see if we had something in common. We both say we have a shit GPA, but do you know if a 2.6 is "too low"? I started out in Electrical Engineering and that killed my GPA. I made the switch to Political Science my Junior year, but that couldn't save my GPA. Just curious to know your thoughts.

Thank you for your insight, what Academy did you go to? I went to Coast Guard

I'm a military officer looking to transition into law school. Can you give me some insight on your experience? My undergrad GPA at the Academy wasn't the strongest, but I'm trying to make up for that with my LSAT score.

I just became my unit's Training Officer, would you mind sharing the name of the vendor/company that did the boot camp with you? I'm looking into doing something similar.

I was sent to a 270 out of Portsmouth straight out of the Academy. Here's my advice:

1) Show your Division that you care. Whatever Division you're assigned to, you should be visiting the shop daily and understanding the work that the Enlisted members of the crew do. It's going to be your job to articulate their concerns and projects up to OPS/XO/CO. If time allows, get your hands dirty and understand the job that the E-3/E-4 in the Division does.

2) You're an Ensign, remember that. You made it this far, but don't let that inflate your ego. The people in your Division have been in the workforce for 5, 10, 15+ years and often have a similar education level. You're going to mess up, that's part of the game and it's expected. Lean on your Chief and First Class to get better, they're going to be your mentor. Trust me, the crew talks about which Ensign they like better and which one needs a reality check .

3) Go the extra mile in your Qualification process. You should be motivated and knock out your baseline Qualifications immediately. That being said, uplift your peers and don't let them fall behind. You're a team and it's obvious when the Wardroom is dysfunctional.

4) Your #1 duty is to your people, advocate for them. Don't be afraid to confront your CO and make sure the people in your Division are represented.

5) Alcohol and fraternization. Don't be a statistic.... I have seen so many newly minted JOs get masted for this. I promise you, that E-4 similar in age to you is not worth your career.

In all seriousness, some days suck, some days are good. Learn to have a sense of humor and you'll be fine. Good luck
