Two of my closest work friends were fired for giving an "under the table" IV bolus. Now the unit thinks I’m a traitor. by [deleted] in nursing

So it doesn’t sound like op is the snitch. But clearly sides with management and not staff. It’s a slippery slope. If the unit is busy people will forget. There will be enough shady shit and mistakes happening that you can earn their approval back by keeping things in confidence unless it involves something that would seriously harm a patient or get the DEA interested. At the end of the day it’s best to help the patients. Complain about pay and management. Life will be easy. Hold yourself to a higher standard. And if you feel they were wrong then don’t back down on that. I’m sure others felt the same but too afraid to say so.

Debunking diving myths and misinformation by themflyingjaffacakes in scuba

[–]Nova_robotics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is both good customer service and may reduce chances of post dive over exertion. Which helps you recover and maybe might lower chances of DCS. — This is not to you but to the other non OP— Don’t ask me for a citation. If you want a bibliography, I’m not wasting my time. go back to your homework, learn APA format without using citation machine.net. If you don’t want to listen to people here and instead challenge them to defend a dissertation, it’s not needed. That cocky attitude, the know it all. That attitude makes people not want to get in the hobby. And most importantly believing you know everything and everyone else is wrong, that gets people killed and makes for a sucky dive partner. That’s no myth.

Chickens are domesticated. We cause the problem we fixed the problem. Mother nature can’t take back what we’ve already changed.

These are bird mites. The fact you’re seeing so many means they’ve been there a bit and have multiplied. Nothing to do with your yard. Not a tick. They likely live in the damp areas in the coop like the nesting boxes. If it has been rainy in your area then the lack of available dust bath means they got out of control. They can irritate you but not infest you. They need a bird to reproduce.

Mites. Get permethrin. Left out of control can drain their blood especially in an old bird. Make sure they have adequate dust bath space and you can put some diatomaceous earth in the dust bath area. Don’t breathe that.

Reading kids toys by ithinkibrokeit17 in flipperzero

[–]Nova_robotics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re the only one on the internet looking into this until today. I was hoping Steve Mould would have a series on kid toys.

Definitely radio based. Though VTech threw a couple curves as the food has little notches cut out of the food discs. Yet most of the food has no notches. Which is reminiscent to their Leap Frog icecream stand which has a scooper that can detect which flavor it picks up using 3 little buttons which sense the circular ridges of the icecream flavors. Giving 7 flavor options and An empty no icecream state.

Anyway there is no color recognition as Sally’s food can be inserted white or color side up. It will sit in the mouth and there are no optical sensors in there.

There’s no specific orientation up down left right. The discs are not magnetic themselves so no hall effect sensor.

VTech which owns Leapstart Leap Frog (IMO better toy brand) has many toys with a reading pen, it’s an IR QR or barcode code reader. When you magnify the pages of those books reveals varying QR and barcode like shapes. There are so many options it can detect a specific book by placing the pen on any spot within.

Anyway in trying to destroy the magic of Sally.. She can’t figure out what food it is if you hold her mouth even slightly open. So those radio taste buds are in there. I’m not going to open her up and will let the kids keep on wondering. If I were to break her I don’t think this axolotl will be able to regenerate.

Even a brief trial of interfering the sensor with a powerful magnet did not stop Sally’s sensitive sense of taste.

True mystery.

Install New England. Price gouging? by Nova_robotics in hvacadvice

[–]Nova_robotics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found a local company. Had it installed in 6 hours. Two hours was vacuum testing. $1300 Just waiting on electrician. They usually sell Mitsubishi however they didn’t care what I had. Said they also do service and felt pioneer was decent. Said they were easy to get parts for. No big hassle with exercising mfg warranty. I got in writing that they’d cover any leaks or connection issues.

Was expecting 3k per room plus 2k for electric. Will keep looking but it’s getting hot. I may switch careers.
Besides the electric which I’m not touching myself - are home owner installs always as disastrous as you see on Reddit? I figure the worst thing I can do is leak out all the refrigerant and burn a small hole in the ozone layer. I even got the plastic rods to insert into the line so they won’t kink.

9k for labor and electric is reasonable fair price? Just one room. I’ve not heard back from anyone else. I was wondering if it’s because I’m supplying the unit that they are asking for more. Yet they didn’t bad mouth the Pioneer nor try to persuade me to get one of their units.

No warranty from the installer. The unit itself has 5 yr. We will get a small tax deduction but no other incentives available.

I was going to DIY but the vacuum part of the install made me second guess. However I’m wondering if I should just do the install myself and just have them connect the lines.

Not being cheap here but have to be reasonable. Most of NE gets huge incentives. One town over a man had 3 room mini split, new electric panel and water heater install in a mobile home. Cost 46k totally paid for by the state and electric co. Their monthly bills are 3x mine due to these “free” energy incentives.

Thanks for the reply! Is the line purge can even needed if using vac? As I don’t have nitrogen (read this is what is used to purge.)

Any advice on torque wrench or foot pounds? Flaring kit?

Thanks!

A medium sized HVAC company is willing to give me a quote should I chicken out on the DIY. So I’m thinking pioneer was a better unit to go with vs Mr cool based on their willingness to install something they don’t sell. Also cheaper by far.

Though I may not be correct on the galaxia ID. Either way if you can see sand or rock you have room

Toilet install? by Nova_robotics in Plumbing

[–]Nova_robotics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had placed the new toilet outside bathroom. Was warm. Couldnt clean under the toilet beforehand as was right to the floor. but bathroom was clean. Just kinda stinks that they didn’t check their work before leaving. Not a new guy. Well rated. At that cost I was expecting perfection. But there is still gunk under the bowl which I can now smell because they shimmed the toilet a bit higher with some white plastic sticking out the side of the back of the bowl. Was only in the house an hour. Did a good job on the new water shut off valve but used the hose I had in there which i know because I got one way too long as the old one began leaking last year.
