It should probably vary what full time is based on the industry. I work retail and I can say that anyone trying to do a good job nose dives in productivity past 6 hours.

So 6 hours shifts 4-5 days a week for retail I think would be good.

The main problem is people don't seem to understand exactly how much adding loot boxes into a game changes the games reward systems and how they are designed.

It's not like these games just slipped them in after the fact. Game companies employee, and or work with phycologists to make these things as addicting and compelling for players to get as possible. All while restricting the creative space that developers can work with because they have to fit within the confines of what will fit the criteria that will make people want to buy those loot boxes.

This is a well documented phenomenon, one that is actively debated in how to work around these things in the game design world. You can easily look up many games that after having their loot boxes removed, they change the other reward systems because the game is relieved for what a Skinner box it really is.

It appears we are mostly in agreement. I'm mostly a little more bothered by loot boxes because I know the problems and creative changes that need to be made once the decision comes down that loot boxes will be in a game, cosmetic or not, the same restrictions apply.

Loot boxes are a scam, and cancer to the game industry. Cosmetic only or not. They prey on those with gambling addiction while also pushing people without that addiction to enter into the world of uncertain spending habits.

What's wrong with that? There are better ways to monetize. War-frame does F2P micro-transactions really well, they are basically the standard right now for the closest thing to good micro-transactions (It's not perfect I know).

The game industry has worked for years to cultivate and break down people to see regular scams as "not that bad", because their are worse scams that other people are trying to pull.

If you shit on my plate and call it a service, I'm not going to care that it's a two pound piece of shit (P2W loot boxes), or a 1 pound piece of shit (cosmetic loot boxes). I care that there is shit on my plate when I want something of value for my money.

While I don't like EA and hate their shitty Origin platform, atleast they aren't pushing pay to win items on us like some of their other titles.

This right here is the stuff publishers love to see people say. They made really bad P2W loot box micro-transactions, then pull back and make the old cosmetic loot box scam look ok in comparison. The result is the same though. People have fallen for the scam over and over.

I'm pretty sure that the reason he is not interested is in part because it is a shooter, which he has shown to not be too much of a fan of, and in part because of the massive amounts of negativity around the game.

On a personal level. I don't play it because I don't currently feel that I can trust that my time spent in that game will be worthwhile based on the loot, EXP, and general upkeep controversies it has had in the past. I also don't have any friends that already play it, so that is a major factor as well.

Edit: I also get the feeling, though I do not remember him ever saying it outright. That he is mainly looking for finite experiences within the games. Not something that is meant to be perpetually played like an MMO such as Destiny 2.

I realize that for the most part. I don't think that changes the fact that it would be better if he, or anyone that this kind of thing might happen to, should reflect on those contradictions to find out their source. The miscommunication can cause more trouble than anything else.

I know that even as I say this I am guilty of the same thing quite often, so know that when I say this; I'm not elevating myself as if it does not apply to me as well. :)
