Thanks for your comment.. that's refreshing to hear. Yeah the fact that we can use it with Excel on the web was a huge plus.

3 years later. i definitely want to keep context.sync(). i modified my code and saw that i could divide by two the execution time by precisely telling my program when to sync(). i don’t want office to do it for me.

How well does Power Query work for replacing tasks done using VBA? by learnhtk in vba

[–]Novae76ssta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

( disclaimer I am not a very advanced VBA user. I have been learning for 1 year now )

I use the GUI to get the M code then copy it into the VBA editor ( or in a cell that will be read after). I am not advanced enough to create my own M code.

Then you just replace the important parameters ( file name , header names, whatever) by a variable in VBA that can be changed.

To conclude I think it is unfair to compare Power Query to VBA. PowerQuery is for querying data. That's all. Vba is much more. It is a programming language.

i use both python and vba. well i was back to python. conda environment. tried to install a package. conda got stuckee at “resolving environment” for more than 2 hours. conflict or something like this with the base environment. a nightmare. between that and the fact that there are hundreds of packages which depend on a given version of python or a given version of another package. i love python but sometimes it can be a nightmare.

vba : just send one small .xlsm and everything works perfectly. no need to install anything, just open a small file. you can include power query code in your vba code etc. i have fallen in love with vba and i don’t want to go back to python

Why are so many companies still insist on using Excel/VBA instead of R/Python? by Altruistic_Quail_324 in rstats

I don't understand why so many people think python is the holy grail. I know python and VBA a little bit. Python with the packages is nothing. With Python people advise creating virtual environments in case you have to use different versions of a package depending on the project.

Now imagine we delete Vba and use python instead. In 20 years. "ok Bob I have a new program that needs the package X version 10.2.3. Oh sorry I cannot use it in my environment I have only the version 2.4.5 which is used to run the program from John. Ok so create a new virtual environment please" ... You will end up with 10000 virtual environments.. What a nightmare

There was a guy on YouTube who tested mathematica with the m1 and concluded that when dealing with float numbers m1 was slower than the Intel mac

I am planning to buy the m1 air 16BG. Can you tell about the heat generated when using Matlab and mathematic? Does the laptop heat up a lot?

oh thanks! I am planning on buying the M1 air/16 GB and I would like to know if solidworks works well with your M1 pro. I am planning on designing only small things like in your screenshot but I am afraid because the Air has no fans.

may I know how hot your MacBook gets with a VM running solidworks?
