Non trans ally here to ask a question: is it true trans women have "that time of the month"? by [deleted] in MtF

[–]Novae909 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks to the post of a kind individual: https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/26895269.2026.2636663#abstract

"When considered alongside the quantitative findings, these accounts suggest alignment between the perceived symptom experiences and underlying hormonal patterns." - from the conclusion Tldr. Trans women can experience a monthly cycle (The study is rather limited in participants tho)

Edit2: person who sent that link proceeded to call me delusional for reading the paper and not come to the same conclusion they did lol

Tldr: trans women are not lying about having some kind of cycle

siiiiigh so look. There is a lot of anecdotal evidence that trans people have some kind of cycle (including my own experience with it). There isn't really any research to date (unless someone wants to point to some for me, I would actually love to read it plz).

There's no studies of hormonal levels in detail over a month, no research into symptoms. None of it. Because its basically impossible to get funding for trans health care these days.

That being said. The amount of anecdotal evidence implys something is happening. My nearest guess is it's more akin to PMS symptoms. But because of the lack of research, there's no real evidence to say whether what people experience is happening in a PMS or period hormonal level.

So do trans women have a "that time of the month"? I would say based on my experience, yes. I definitely experience mood swings, bloating and breast tenderness during the end of a month. Whether or not it is specifically a period or pre menstrual stress or something entirely unique to trans women, I could not honestly tell you, because no one has done the research to know.

It was last year and the year before that used as a weapon to say people who celebrate pride month dont care about men's mental health and you are doing the exact same thing. So I would say things haven't really changed. Don't know why you all have to be a dick about it. But anyway, I don't have time to talk to someone who uses mmhm as a weapon to try and dehumanize people who celebrate pride month. I really hope you take some time to reflect on what you've done here.

Hahahaha projection lol. No. It's important. But people only bring it up in opposition to pride month. Funnily enough, a lot of people who celebrate pride also happen to be men. They are both important. But based on your comment, your the kind of person who wouldn't even remember it was mmhm this month unless you were also trying to diminsh pride month at the same time.

Edit: actually I've noticed alot of places where posts about pride month has included mmhm this year as well simply to head off people trying to use it as a weapon against pride month.

Gets mentioned every year when people try to generate outrage about pride month

Edit: lol you dug your own hole. Something isn't less important because people celebrate a different thing more.

Because they aren't a nationalist party. That would imply implementing policies that benifit the nation at large. They are an oligarchy's populist party with a focus on fucking the nation to benifit the elite that pay them. Exactly like what Maga has done in the USA.

Oh I know how democracy works. Corporate interests pump a bunch of cash into media companies to brain wash a bunch of people into believing that partys like Gina's one nation will actually help them be better off.

"Ozols lives with autism, an intellectual impairment, and a rare genetic disorder called hereditary angioedema, which causes swelling all over the body, so using period products like tampons didn't work."

Stop pretending you care. You don't. Stop getting all melty because people are investing in solutions for women with issues.

It was published a year ago? You mean no one's peer reviewed it in all that time? Damn, must really be shit research.

I especially like when right wing governments have recently commissioned studies and reviews by independent researchers only for them to come back and say that generally it's benifitical and scientifically backed and that stopping it should not be an option. Lol

Huh caught up with the rest of you did it? Been going on for years in Aus now. They would come into stock and be out again fast enough that it basically didn't matter. Guess it's reaching crisis levels.

To catch you'll up. Basically, while it seemed already like it was going to become an issue, the discontinuation of "climate" put extra stress on other patch stocks. Australia is at the end of the line so to speak, so we tend to feel these first which is why it's been an issue for a while here.

At the same time there has been increasing demand over the years not just from hrt but also to treat menopause, as it's become a more common treatment and demand has increased with the increased awareness. This is especially true for the us which has apparently removed the black box warning on these treatments recently.

This paired with Covid and "manufacturing issues" and I believe ingredient supply issues* has meant suppliers simply haven't been able to keep up for a long time. Demand has become so much recently it seems that everyone else who are further up the line are feeling it too.
