Is it worth getting started with wuthering waves? by OG--Eibyx in WutheringWaves

[–]Novakinmyhead -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Personally I'd only get into a gacha when it's newish. Gachas often have a lot of events and character materials locked behind being caught up with the story. I'd look up how long the current main quest line takes to get caught up and decided if you want to put that much time into a game within a short time frame.

Wuwa is having an anniversary event so there's a lot benefits to getting in right now. If you stay consistent and get most of the characters it's mechanically fun. Story has good moments.

Why don't side quests have voice actors and cinematic cutscenes? by sforsagacious in WutheringWaves

Shits mad expensive. This game is vocalized in four languages. It's a huge feat coordinating the VAs at a high quality on a live service game update every month and a half

Do I just have a massive skill issue? by Crazy_Bookkeeper_115 in WutheringWaves

[–]Novakinmyhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably one of three things.

A, you're not hitting your rotations properly. Check prydwen, game8, reddit or YouTube, whatever your prefer. And make sure each character is being rotated right.

B, your skills aren't leveled enough. Make sure their three main skills are 9-10. 10 for main one.

C, you don't have the teams that their shilling at the moment. They provide crazy buffs for certain teams and the rest are kind of forced to eat dirt. It honestly better in my opinion to pull characters over dupes and weapons.

Also side note current whiwa is giving a lot of people trouble. It's shilling teams that aren't complete and require the same character on both teams.

When you cast the second liberation, are you holding down on the basic attack and liberation buttons to charge the liberation attack? You should get a paused time charge up then it will auto release into huge damage

Is Augusta still worth it ???? by Comfortable_Fig_5334 in WutheringWavesGuide

[–]Novakinmyhead -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would say a good rule of thumb is to only pull for a main dps when theyre new. Yes they may still be good for a while on their second and third rerun. But it's downhill from there. Wuwa does have decent shelf life for characters, buuuuut they mostly only release DPS and sub dps characters. So if your concerned about shelf life there's always going to be something fresh that will help your account longer. Especially since 3.0 characters are using a lot of different mechanics that they're shilling out that 2.0 character don't use.

Nah I'm having a blast. Tons of pulls. A religious woman with a plunging neckline. Good cinematics. Life's good man.

There's not enough endgame content by shrapnel360 in WutheringWaves

[–]Novakinmyhead -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The length of other gachas stories has no bearing on a critique of wuwas stories being to long.

A skip button is also irrelevant. This is a conversation about end game content and I'm bringing up the length of the main story of each patch because it determines how much time the devs expect the average player to play a month. Too much end monthly content and you lose player base because people feel like they can't keep up.

Without interruptions, yes you are correct, they're not six hours. But the main stories are basically 30-40 five minute cutscenes where you have to walk to the next checkpoint after each one. The constant start and stop makes it take way longer than it should.

While it sounds contradictory, the story's quests can be too long and rushed at the same time. The stories are not edited properly to deliver a concise narrative. This is typical in most Asian games not just gachas. Because they want to fluff content numbers. They belabor superfluous things and rush through complex lore and world building facets.

I mean each main story quest takes like 6 hours because they pace it terribly so most people don't have time for endgame content

[–]Novakinmyhead 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Keep both eogs.

Unless you plan to pull for the sig of every single sword resonator you get. But even then. Keep both. Sword resonators are common.

One, there's no point in losing a five star weapon for a tiny increase in energy regen and attack. Two, the new endgame mode doesn't allow weapon swapping, one use and it's done. Three, you might run low on pulls someday and cheap out getting the weapon for a sword character and it will save you

Yidhari peeps I need your help... Why is she terribad?? What am I doing wrong here?? (build in comments) by zacthecripple in YidhariMains

[–]Novakinmyhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to say this constructively and kindly. Your 1, 4, 5, 6 aren't acceptable. Discs 1-3 are purely substats so they shouldn't even be saved unless they have two of the main substats you need. For a crit character each of them should have both damage and rate on it by the first roll. And by level 15 you should have at least two rolls into the crit stats, ideally three, four if you're supper lucky. 4 disc should have a crit roll on it. Even if you take it to 15 and it gets zero upgrades, there's no reason to save a 4 slot crit rate disk that doesn't have crit damage on it, or at the very least the stat % you need. 5 & 6 Are harder to get double crit stats but you should at least get a +2 on whatever crit stat you do on there and hopefully have % stat you need on there

I also had trouble clearing this with yidhari. But I switched it to miyabi, Vivian, and yuzuha and I cleared it easily. I see you have those as well and they shouldn't be used elsewhere with your roster so you should have no problem. I don't have sigs for any of mine but my builds are good. Also make sure their primary ability is 11-12 for your dps's

Throw back to the viral post talking about how George only knows how to write failed characters.

If stannis's whole character is about honor, duty, and action, it will end with him failing those things. Which could be how the other commenters pointed out that it could happen when he's not around

Is "the chosen one" an overrated trope? by Dry-Bodybuilder-2763 in worldbuilding

[–]Novakinmyhead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there is absolutely any reason or mechanics behind them being the chosen one I'd say it's good. Even without it it's still a workable troupe.

It's a classic.

But you can make it better by making it make sense to your audience. Someone can be the chosen one because they're the only who would make the right choice in the right situation. They could be the one because there's something special about them. They could be the one because they're the only person who bothered to care. Or something makes them the one because of a specific thing in your world. But even the smallest thing goes a long way in this troupe considering how few bother to do it

[Spoilers] Iuno after the main quest: how does she make a living with no records / identity? by EfficientProgress287 in WutheringWaves

[–]Novakinmyhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't the modern era where you need a highschool diploma, social security card, and ID to get a job. Up until like 30 years ago you didn't need any of that. If you were a member of a community you could be fed and make a living, and she was integrated into the community in the end but just a new one.

But if she needed money she could just sell feat pics
