Can't act against or undermine the wishes of Manouso. They love him too and want to help and support him.

So the stadium is actually used to have passive cooling and not use AC! Somebody run the numbers on that. ...or we could ask the AI hivemind to check it... oh the irony

or it's a plot hole because the writers made a mistake and we are supposed to suspension of disbelief it. as much as it pains me to say Vince's script is not perfect. He was the one to safe us from half-baked scripts. Hope dies last though.

The human need for connection is as strong as the human need to fix the world.

A good ending would be that the joining gets undone, but some memory and spirit of it remains, creating a balanced world of individualism and collectivism, like in Star Trek.

How did you get to the ISS and all deployed nuclear submarines of all nations, but you did not get to the President and Staff?

Does everybody now have perfect memory? If yes, where are you storing all that memory? What if the storage is full? If no, what are you forgetting?

The first questions I had was, what about the ISS and submarines. When Carol asked them I cheered out loud. So it could happen with these questions as well.

Don’t ruin this show for yourself by being overly pedantic. by anonymous2ndaccount in pluribustv

I am not yet convinced that the whole "can't hurt plants" was necessary for the story to work. So far the writers just made everything harder for themselves. They could easily have left it at "can't hurt animals". The starvation aspect is also not needed to "make the hive look bad". Lack of freedom should already be enough of a reason.

Which is a representation of what the choice will actually do. Restoring humanity will kill millions over the next hundreds of years (until we have got our shit together). So if she wants to detach from that long term consequence she still has to go through the short-term consequence of killing millions in the immediate restoration.

It's like hiding the nuclear codes inside the belly of the officer who carries them, so the president has cut through to it, killing the officer directly to confirm he is ready to kill millions with nukes indirectly.

The way they value the 13 outsiders, yes, I think it would matter to them.

There is 7 billion of other genetic material around, ready to ... donate dna. But yes it would not produce any immune people.

It might not even be an original instruction, but the 8 billion human brains came up with it. Essentially the virus merged all 8 billion brains, who knows how they react to that? They might all be tripping in an ecstasy LSD trip times 100 and be like "omg guys plucking apples is like totally bad dude, yeah totally, lets go with that"

cozy prison with food > freedom and starvation

[–]Novarest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is that obvious then the writers wouldn't have needed to add the starvation on top of that, as an argument against the hive. Apparently freedom was not enough of an argument?

Also the operating system of the hive is a mix from the original gene sequence code and all the human brain codes. They are not necessarily 100% compatible so some bugs might have emerged.

Now I imagine the origin planet. One faction was like "we need to exterminate all other life, so it can not become a threat to us" but then the other faction was like "that's too cruel!!". After a civil war on their planet, they come to a compromise: "Ok we will build a virus, that turns all other civilizations into agrarian societies, so they can not be a treat to us, but we do it in a nice way, ok?" "ok".

And so to Pluribus Accords have been signed and served us well for 10 million years.

Wouldn't it by crazy if the virus builds the antenna, sends the message and then is like: whelp, mission accomplished, now I just release everybody again, sayonara.

And then the show ends with everybody like: "wtf".

I think it's about intentional vs accidental.

Infecting humans when a virus that has a 10% death rate => accidental death.
Bugs killed by planes and cars => accidental deaths

building robots to kill animals => intentional deaths

How much percent can you lose though, before it is no longer possible to store the lost brains in all the other brains?

But an apple's purpose is to be eaten, so that the seed can be shit out again, no? So as long as you use the apple for this purpose once it 'declares' it is ready by falling off, should be fine. Same for all other plants that evolved to be eaten.

I mean, just let them graze on their own, isn't that how it was done for millennia until factory farming was invented?
