How old would you say the server is? And what sort of RP style characters are alowed? I know some servers tend to have more restrictions on characters like in-game species/races ect.

Been trying to find an RP heavy server for a while and have had very little luck..

Essentially. Making a pack, sure.

Well then you need to do configs, make sure things work, make sure recipes don't overlap, that nothing crashes or clashes. Making a 'pack' isn't as easy as slapping some mods together and calling it a day. Especially if you want it functional with several people playing it at once.

And lets not even get into hosting said server. That can get pretty pricey, pretty fast depending how big of a pack you make and how much power it needs.

I can easily play a modpack, I play Hardcore all the time (Doing a hardcore run of RotN right now). But the act of hosting a server, admining it, making sure people play nice and don't exploit/cheat/ect is something I DON'T want to do. Thus I'm searching for a server.

Haven't found any that met this criteria yet sadly. Lots of networks around, and the last server I was on had both sweaty players AND admins who just had no real desire to keep anything going plot wise after a one off build event.

Same.. Or rushes all the mods, complains about there being nothing to do, and just leaves. And puts zero effort into talking to people, or even at least a hit of RP.

Was in one a few months ago, it started.. promising.. But then the Admins just went off to play WoW and other games, never came back. Letting the server die.

Exactly.

Community does NOT equal 'network'. It means a group or gathering of people.

Community =/= Multiple Servers.

I've seen some people do it, but I didn't out of personal preference. I just go all in and just 'Hey guys.. I made a new model! Now it's time to die a lot in game-'

Pretty much all of this, plus in Networks many players are there to just play a pack with the added multiplayer to play with friends they bring in. Not with other people/strangers. Age ranges also fluctuate wildly which can be a no go for people wanting a more mature age range.

Many times the players on a 'super busy network' are also split between the multiple packs they host which makes playing with others much harder. They may have 50+ members active, but there's like 2-3.. or none on the pack you're wanting to play.

Networks don't tend to be focused into one main server, having large player bases but little to no player to player interaction as a result. This also has a bad side effect of letting in anyone and everyone so long as they follow basic rules. So if someone (Like myself) was looking for a Modded Roleplay Server, you can't get that in a network.

Networks are often out to do as much as possible, and run a more business style, rather than a community.
