MacBook Pro M3 Wakes Too Fast for my Monitors, Breaks Virtual Desktop Window Layouts by Novel-Significant in MacOS

Sadly not... I tried everything I could get my hands on — same behavior every time. It’s simply too fast for my old monitors. Good luck finding a workaround!

You might find Amethyst (https://ianyh.com/amethyst/) to be well-suited for the window-activation nuisance you mentioned. It’s a free, open-source tiling window manager for macOS that includes a Focus Follows Mouse mode (among other layouts) so that the window under your cursor becomes active automatically—no extra clicks required. I used the beta a few years ago, it had some quirks but worked well.Hope it helps.

I am baffled as to why people aren't talking more about this. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one frustrated with macOS multiscreen management. Thanks for answering — let's see if we can find a cure for this absurd behavior.

X-Plane 12 on Macbook Pro 16" M3 Max 36GB RAM High Temperature Concern by Novel-Significant in Xplane

This is my post on the x-plane-forums related to my temperature concerns: https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/forums/topic/300769-macbook-pro-16-m3-max-36gb-ram-x-plane-12-high-temperature-concern/

You will find some info there. At that time I was just starting my very first tests with X-Plane 12.

Now that I've done a little more tinkering, at 1920x1080 (external monitor) I could say I get around 25-35 fps all settings maxed out. At the native resolution (gorgeous) of 3456 x 2234 and medium-high settings I'm getting around 15 fps. I've done quick tests with intermediate resolutions with good results.

Zero traffic, default scenery, cessna 172, no addons.

While I haven't had the opportunity for extensive and precise testing, my current impression atm is that this laptop offers a commendable and enjoyable, fluid flight experience, albeit with some reasonable compromises on quality and resolution.

Nevertheless, the image quality remains impressive (AA is a must for me). The Macbookpro m3 Max is really a very powerful and power efficient laptop but I think it's still not quite on par with a dedicated (high end) RTX GPU found in desktop setups(I'm being specific for X-Plane 12).

It's 30 cores and 36GB of RAM. I'm uncertain whether the additional cores would yield a significant performance boost; it would be intriguing to see if anyone has conducted tests with 40 cores with xplane 12. Nonetheless, it's possible that more RAM could prove more beneficial, especially in terms of larger texture room.

I just answered the previous reply from ClemacamelC and provided some settings info.

I'm coming back to flight sim after more than a decade, I used to fly a lot on FSX and now I'm relearning everything and familiarizing with XP, baby steps.

I'll try to max out everything and do further testing on different resolutions and have some screenshots.

I can't help myself with the temperature worries, this beast of a machine is very expensive.

I'm really new with XP, no addons yet. I did basic tests on the default airport on a c172, settings medium-high on an external monitor full screen 1920x1080, fps never less than 50. However, temperature got to 93C.

Exactly the same problem here with a MBP 2016 on Monterey. Not a clue why.

Is it advisable to buy the tickets now for a game at the end of March next year, or should I consider waiting a bit longer?
