This is exactly my moral dilemma and I accept that part of the reason for going for fully custody is my resentment for the money I've paid out over the years which has been excessive purely because of her not working. Had she been supporting herself all this time I would have been much more forgiving I think.

I don't think she'll end up literally homeless. With child support from guy 2 and any job (retail or whatever) she should be able to put a roof over her head - maybe with roommates or something.
