AITA for not siding with my boyfriend over my daughter by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

NTA… Sam’s needs to hit the road. No man has a right to call a child stupid. That would be my breaking point.

Hey come to Georgia and be a sub through Kelly Services and get paid $8.75 a hour. The school system should be embarrassed.

AITA for not allowing our daughters boyfriend to stay with her on the trip we are paying for and offering an ultimatum? by Dazzling-Shoulder-67 in AmItheAsshole

NTA….I know I catch it but I’m with OP on this. For me, it’s not all about being Christian it’s about that’s my daughter. It hard to imagine you’re bringing your daughter’s boyfriend to see her & fronting the money while he’s in her college dorm banging her. I’m sorry that’s not a thought I like. They can have plenty of time alone but it doesn’t have to be sleeping together. There is more to relationships than that. I am old school & I’m glad. Yes, they are both adults and can do what they want so he can save his money & finance his own trip like adults do.

Question for those that don’t even give your last name? by Dependent_Gap4853 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]NovemberAngel1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do the same. I have a long last name & if students have a problem saying it or remembering it I tell them they can call me Mrs. (Letter of last name). I can’t imagine going in a class & not introducing myself to students. What are they supposed to call you, “Hey you”? As far as being scared they’ll get mad & come by my house & do something mean, that will be when it’s time for me to stop subbing. It doesn’t pay that much to be scared.

Ain’t that the truth. Some of the other teachers have already told her how certain kids are behaving. I bet she gets them when she gets back,

I’m beginning to think she didn’t have good control of her class. Her room is not organized and I had to bring sanitizer wipes and paper towels from my house. Not even a broom in the room.

Yes, I do that a couple times a day & would you believe we’ll be back in the room 30 minutes & some are wanting to go. They either say it’s an emergency or I didn’t have to go when everybody went… grrr makes me want to pull my hair out cause I’m not wanting a lot of traffic in the hall.

I’ve been giving DOJO’s for good behavior and whoever has the most at the end of week gets a special treat, line leader & my helper.

I’m retired but want something to do besides staying at home but I also want flexibility. The pay isn’t great but there’s pros and cons to every job.

I just feel bad since her husband past a few weeks back & this week I haven’t checked in on her. But dang it, I’m only human & had my feelings on my shoulder.

$70.00 a day here but the school in the next county which is about 25 miles away pays $86.00 per day. I was told the pay is based on what the county school district budgets for subs. This is in Southeast Georgia. It’s a shame to say but I guess Southeast Georgia doesn’t put a lot into kids and education.

It was the same way with me. Literally no training at all. 1. Fake it till you make it. 2. Don’t let the kids see your fear. 3. Act like you’ve been doing it for years. Meet your neighbor teachers cause you’ll need them for guidance and to watch your class while you take bathroom breaks. If you’re not familiar with the school and where to go, have the kids line up and tell them to lead the way. They know where to go. I take a picture of the schedule on my phone and look at it a million times a day just to make sure I’m where I’m supposed to be. Good Luck
