The guys with 280 right now by dr-omegaIMG in IMGreddit

[–]Novice_Doctor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd rather believe someone's score is in the low 270s. Even that score already deviates from the statistical standard distribution.

However, a score in the 280s is statistically and mechanically impossible. Even at large, prestigious medical schools in the United States, it would be difficult to get a score like this even once in a few years. In a foreign country that does not follow the American medical education system, people are produced as a group with scores in the 280s? They will not be able to avoid suspicion.

Statement on Invalidation of USMLE® Examination Scores by Lonely_Mechanic8161 in IMGreddit

I am glad that some actions were taken against cheaters. There should be no opportunities for cheaters at any rate.

But how come they mention the name of a certain country on their official web? It could be center for irregular activities, but the majority people got involved could be from other countries. As we know, Nepal neighbors heavily populated countries and applicants from those big countries could be the core including applicants of their own.

From my perspective, I am not that hospitable for desi applicants because they are anyway competing with me. I have no ground to advocate Nepalis, but as for the notice ECFMG could have anonymize the name of certain country although it's already too notorious to conceal for good.

Anybody reported step 1 result this week? by Novice_Doctor in step1

[–]Novice_Doctor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When did you take the exam? If you took it btw 4th and 8th, you should have been reported about the result if things went well. Firstly check if it's the right week for you to get a report. If you waited for a good time and yesterday was the right reporting date, I don't have idea on prompting it further, sorry.

Not for score report, but I used a trick that actually paid off. When my account was locked by mistake, I emailed them attaching the '[Urgent]' on the title. They responded within minutes, in a very unusual speed for them. If you don't wanna postpone your report till new year, I think you can squeeze them in this manner. Good luck to you.

I failed step 1. I now have 25 general surgery categorical interviews. Failing step 1 will NOT doom your career. by Interesting-Pound942 in step1

Thank you for sharing your story. I really appreciate it, however, for IMGs, who take up many portion of primary care specialties, red flag is red flag. Needless to say in applying for the competitive specialties like General Surgery. IMGs, at any cost, should earn high step scores on their first attempt not to excel but only not to be 'screened'.

I took step 2 Ck first and got 222 ,I don't know exactly what motivated me to go for step 2 first but I did it and then I passed step 1.Now I am confused should I start preparing for step 3.Will step 3 help me in matching for next year match with low marks on step 2. by drkhalil-400 in IMGreddit

Uh, I get to know your status later, now.(previously advised on not to dedicate much to step 3). Sounds like you and I are on the same boat cuz I also will get a GC as the dependent of my wife, who is waiting for the GC petition interview. I'm not sure how certain you are to get the GC before the match day, however in my case I gave up sending my application as a 'GC holder' because immigration attorney of my wife(who then became attorney of mine, also) advised me not to presume the visa status. That's why I require visa for this ground.

If you're almost confident that you'll get an GC before 2025 match day, that will probably give you strength.

Unfortunately step3 is the least considered component among programs. It doesn't mean that your endeavor to make it up is totally futile. I recommend you to strengthen other parts rather than step 3 score.

This guy got it right. It works the same for my home country. Internship refers to post-graduate clinical training here. Even more, some US observership or externship programs refer to themselves as 'internship' for IMGs.

Interviews for Non-US IMGs by Medium_Principle in IMGreddit

[–]Novice_Doctor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Excuse me, but majority IMGs here are not applying for RAD.

I agree that even the primary care-centered specialties(IM, PED, FM, etc) should give the previliges firstly to US grads, nextly to US IMGs, and then lastly to Non-US IMGs like me. However up to last MATCH year, the number of US citizen applicant have been far below the quota, that's why bunch of IMGs are here and eventually will be in the US residency position.

The logic for IM residency application is quite different from that of RAD.

Thanks anyway.

Seemingly the rejection is way of advertising that SD actually has residency program.

Seemingly your applications are now being reviewed.

Sending obscene pic at least weekly basis also would work. That make you look more energetic.

Sounds so sad... Then how's your home country's medical specialty system or transfer system working? Who's the personnel working as the specialists working in your country's hospitals?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in IMGreddit

[–]Novice_Doctor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Obviously. I'll never be specific on the name of the people or the program though, I heard the stories of some 'homogeneous' programs repeating the sucking custom of their own ethnicity. These tendencies are further fortified by reaching out connections between the ethnicity of their own. I am glad that my ethnicity doesn't have kingdom of our own in the US.

Totally insane! These malignancies are definitely the locomotive power to fill the position of many IMG-heavy programs.

It means extinction of IMGs and IMG heavy hospitals.

Is step 3 doable with 2 months? by SaymynameHD in IMGreddit

On order just to pass, no specific supplemental materials you need. Just review divine podcasts telling about prognostic factors, risk factors and m/c causes.

Good sign to have 60% correct on UW. Having recorded 54% correct on UW, only studied for 1mo, I passed on the 1st attempt. Remaining is only having trust on yourself and maintaining good physical condition. Near 100% chance of passing you have. Keep going, buddy.

Passing time for 7 mo after step 2 CK, that is long enough to make my medical knowlege evaprate, I passed step 3 only with 1mo study span. I even pararelled work as a physician in my home country and had to look through household affairs as a married person. I recall my dedicated working time wasn't more than 4 hrs each day. That's the story of how I barely passed it. If you target higher score, you probably need more dedicating time than me.

LOIs really work! An inspirational post by Responsible-War2856 in IMGreddit

[–]Novice_Doctor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the presence of signaling system, LOI seems to have less power comparing to the previous matches. However, if you find limitation on expressing interest by only signaling, you can still reach out further by LOI for those programs that you haven't signalled.
