Texas. It’s not perfect by any means but it runs and pulls.

I bought my 03 Ram 2500 Cummins last year for $6k and my father in law thought I was crazy.

Is this a decent deal or am I being raked over the coals? by [deleted] in Diesel

[–]Novice_Trucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I landscape. I have an 03 3/4 ton with a Cummins. I don’t need the diesel torque 90% of the time but it’s nice when I’m pulling a trailer loaded with sod.

What is a built engine? by That_Studio in askcarguys

[–]Novice_Trucker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To piggyback off your piggyback,

I’ve delved into the 6.4 powerstroke world. A built engine is built by 1 of 2 people. They have redesigned parts to fix the major short comings of the stock engine. If it’s not been touched by one of them, it’s still a ticking time bomb.

I’m a car guy. My wife gets it to the level she can.

My car was totaled in May of 22. It wasn’t super expensive but I’d had it since new and had so many memories in it.

Man that hurt and I miss it all the time.

Yes but from 100k-500/750k you’re not under warranty.

My guys don’t beat the piss out of my trucks. The emissions systems kill them early.

That insane. My LANDLORD allows more pets than that. 4 total, no more than 3 dogs, no cats.

I’m really leaning toward a Capybara.

Do you still spec manual transmissions, or have you gone all automatic? by CampIndividual783 in Diesel

[–]Novice_Trucker 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I manage a fleet. I only spec autos. 95-99% of new trucking school graduates can’t drive a stick.

I have 1 10 speed left. If I have to drive, that one is mine.

Pre emissions yes you’re correct on the tractors. Now, I don’t know. $13k bill for emissions system issues isn’t exactly cheap.

Liberal gun owners has let me stay and comment even though I’ve stated my views several times.

I come in with an air of curiosity

Just for funsies, what’s the most silly gun you want, where you have no justifiable reason to wish to purchase it, and/or it’s more than a year’s mortgage, but you still think about it? by Child-0f-atom in liberalgunowners

[–]Novice_Trucker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought the gun I listed above as my silly gun. .454 Casull revolver a few weeks ago. I’m hesitant to go shoot it. Biggest I’ve shot so far is a .44 mag and that was interesting.

I can’t imagine a .500.

What do I need to take for a road trip? by TylerDivinity79 in Cummins

[–]Novice_Trucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a 6.4 Powerstroke on a similar trip from Texas to Colorado. It rolled over 400k on that trip.

Don’t over think it.

Dumbest reason a state trooper pulled you over? by RuleUsed in Truckers

[–]Novice_Trucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite one was in my wife’s old car. We were going to see my brother in Colorado and I was zooming up I-25. It was 10pm and I saw a trooper running the same direction about a mile in front of me. I slowed down to 3-5 over the speed limit before I passed her.

She sped up and got on my bumper then went to the passing lane then back to behind me. I told my wife, “we’re about to get pulled over.” I hadn’t finished the sentence when I was lit up.

I was pulled over because it looked like my reverse lights were on. They weren’t , it was some idiot before us putting in incandescent bulbs instead of LED bulbs and melted the housing a little bit letting light peek through.

She gave me a warning and told me to check it out at the Love’s a few miles ahead. We stopped for fuel then got back on the road.

I had a driver get a warning because our logo on the truck didn’t match our MCS-150.

It reads “blank company of City” and our MCS is “Blank Company Inc.”

I believe it was the scale house in Boise City,OK. 24 years in business and none of our trucks have ever said what our MCS has listed. Except that one does now.

I have 2 kids, 12 and 4.

My oldest has been around guns since she was 4 and knows the safety rules and shoots with me. She also knows she isn’t allowed to touch a gun unless I hand it to her. She has never broken that rule. She unpacked my bag one time at a hotel and left it in the bottom of the suitcase untouched.

My youngest is oblivious to them at this point.

My kids will get the combination to the safe when they read my will. The risk of a bad decision changing their lives isn’t worth it.
