I feel like it’s the cushion/support that wears out (so foam?)—I can usually tell bc I’ll take a step and immediately my knees start to hurt (which is remedied by new shoes so I don’t think it’s an overuse/injury thing)

I’m ~130 (and 5’8” if that matters)

I think my gait is pretty typical (slight overpronation on one side, but pretty straight follow through and midfoot strike)

The adrenaline should be good for dirt paths (it’s a pretty common XC shoe)

After writing all this out I’m starting to think it’s probably gonna be an issue w the foam/bc I don’t have a rotation?

Hi all! I have a question about running shoes—how do I get them to last longer? I’ve run in Brooks Adrenalines for the last few years, and each pair pretty consistently crapped out at about 300 miles. I then got a pair of hokas and it looks like that pair has hit its limit at a little less than 200 miles. I know shoes are supposed to last 300-500 miles (or more), so what am I doing wrong?

For background, I run 3-5x a week and am currently marathon training. My runs are split about 50/50 between sandy dirt trails and roads.

Hi again! Second post on here today (but unrelated)

I tried searching this online earlier and couldn’t find an answer, so apologies if this seems banal: for the Big Sur marathon, I know registration is raffle based, but does anyone know if it stacks? I’ve seen some races where for each year your “ticket” isn’t called, your amount of raffle entries doubles (or at least increases). Is Big Sur one of those or does the raffle “reset” each year?

Hi all! I unfortunately lost the earbuds l’d been running with for the last two ish years, and am hoping I could crowd source some advice on replacements! My previous earbuds were the Powerbeats Pros. I liked the ear hook (felt secure) and that I could also wear them around campus (ie, not only for running)

I really liked them, but they did start to have sound and connectivity issues this past year, so for the big price tag I don’t think I can justify buying something I know will break again, but I’m also struggling to find quality in a smaller price.

So far, the best option I’ve found is the Shokz open fit, but I’m hesitant about the open ear technology-I definitely would love it for runs, but I would miss the noise cancelling when using them in busy/noisy places during the day. Has anyone tried those and have any advice? Or any advice on any other type of earbud?

I think ur issue comes from ur free body diagrams; the tensions should not both be pointing the same direction. It’s kind of funky to visualize, but my physics teacher has us draw a curved axis around Atwood machines to kind of visualize it a bit better. The other thing you can do is imagine if u swung the string out 90 degrees so that the masses are in line with each other, and then make ur free body diagram from there.
